S. Krishnasamy was assassinated on January 12, 2008 when a gunman shot him dead at 2.30pm just as Krishnasamy arrived at the MIC party headquarters at Jalan Segget, [[Johor Bahru]] for a committee meeting. It is believed that the shot hit below his left eyebrow.
