Set in the small town of Devil's Gate, North Dakota, the film examines the disappearance of a local woman and her young son. Schull plays an FBI agent who helps the local sheriff search for answers. FBI Special Agent Daria Francis is assigned to travel to Devil's Gate, a small town in North Dakota, to investigate the disappearance of Maria Pritchard and her son Jonah. Her prime suspect is the husband and father Jackson Pritchard, who lives in a farm in the middle of nowhere. However Sheriff Gruenwell asks Agent Francis to leave Jackson alone since he is a good man. A ramshackle of a farmhouse sits in the middle of nowhere in Devil's Gate, North Dakota. Pearce Bacca's (Adam Hurtig) car has sputtered along this rural road. As he approaches and slowly wades through the heavily wired entry-gate to the farmhouse, he's unaware of the booby traps set on his way to the front porch. |

Maria (Bridget Regan) and her young son Jonah (Spencer Drever) are missing. To locals in the small town of Devil's Gate, North Dakota, this doesn't seem like a big deal, but Maria's family in the city are worried and have alerted the federal authorities. Cue the arrival of FBI Special Agent Daria Francis (Amanda Schull), a slender, blonde, well groomed woman whom the local police instantly reckon for a clueless city slicker they can wind up - at least until she disposes of a would-be assailant with a swift punch to the jaw. Unimpressed with the insistence that the woman's husband can't have hurt her because he's a lovely guy, she insists on repeating their unsuccessful investigation - and finds rather more than she bargained for. |

FBI Special Agent Daria Francis (Amanda Schull) has traveled from out of town and arrives in Devil's Gate where she'll teem with local deputy Conrad "Colt" Salter (Shawn Ashmore) on a special assignment. Sheriff Gruenwell (Jonathan Frakes) tasks the agent and officer in locating a missing woman and her son. Theresa Locke reported that her sister and nephew went attempt since being at the old Pritchard farm, which is where Pearce sought help for his vehicle. Jackson Pritchard (Milo Ventimiglia) has an unsavory reputation for being gruff and he's an old friend of Colt's since they attended the same high school together. The sheriff would rather Daria and Colt not get too involved in the case but the new partners drive out to the Pritchard's. Daria uncovers an old Volkswagen in the barn which she takes belongs to Jackson's wife, Maria (Bridget Regan). But she can't do anymore digging because Jackson has a loaded shotgun pointed at her head. Fortunately, Colt and Daria are experienced enough in law enforcement to force it out of his hands. Jackson has someone or something locked in his basement but warns Daria not to go down there. Does he have his wife and son caged up in the basement? |
|||
Deputy Conrad "Colt" Salter heads with Agent Francis to interview Maria's sister and she leaves her house convinced that Jackson may be hiding them. When they arrive at his farm, Jackson assaults Agent Francis and she enters the house to investigate, finding some kind of creature caged in the basement. Jackson is adamant that they let him go so he can protect his family, but Agent Francis is skeptical. |
