11 may 2008. I am interested in the reasons for the murder of Rossi because I have a document which point to a connexion between Louis Napoleon and Rossi. The document suggests that Rossi knew that the newly appointed president of the second french republic was not the republican he had sworn to be, and that he was prepared to help the pope as he actually did between 1850 an -70. I really think the idea there were no more murders in the papal state till 1998 is somewhat not just wrong but even naif. Rossi died in 1848 and (apart fom Vatican State) the papal state survived till 1870. Really anyone think there were no more murders and murderer in Rome for more than 20 years? Masonic killing

I have read that his murder was related to the age-old conflict between Catholicism and Freemasonry, or at least it was alleged. I am the person who asked the question above in 2008. The document I referred to is a booklet called Dernier mot sur le Pouvoir Social. Its in french and printed in Paris in 1836. What connects it to Rossi is 1: he is quoted in the printed text, 2: on the cover there is a handwritten dedication to "Monsieur Rossi - hommage de respect et d'admiration. What connects it to Napoleon III is the year. 1836 was the year of his first failed putsch - and the content which is an ideological call for the voluntary submission of the population.
