The 1919-22 events can be described as a Greco-Turkish War because the two factions were the Kingdom of Greece and the Turkish National Movement, but the factions in this war were the Kingdom of Greece and the Ottoman Empire, so shouldn't this be titled Greco-Ottoman War (1897)?--<span style="background-color:maroon; color:white;">— ZjarriRrethues —</span> talk 10:08, 16 June 2011 (UTC) |

The Turks were outnumbered by the Greeks. The previous wars made it very diffcult to gather large armies, so stop deleting correct information! |
|||
:It is a common name issue: most wars the Ottomans were in are commonly called "X-Turkish War", like the Russo-Turkish Wars. The difference between "Greco-Turkish War" and "Greco-Ottoman War" is overwhelming if you check Google Books. Constantine ✍ 13:18, 16 June 2011 (UTC) |

I notice the casualty numbers seem to keep being deleted, even when sourced. Why? |
|||
This article is incredebly biased towards Greece. Statements like "This war was the only conflict between Greeks and Turks in the century where Greece was forced to cede land to Turkey" or "Much of the reason for the Greek defeat, however, was mainly due to the Ottoman operational numerical superiority" DO NOT BELONG IN AN ENCYCLOPEDIA! And also the level of pathetism indicates that is writer is at most a 12 year old. |
|||
PS: it should be completely rewritten (or even deleted) because of its almost total lack of sources or references.86.104.216.79 18:14, 3 July 2007 (UTC) |

For instance the last time they were up they were sourced In Warfare and Armed Conflicts: A Statistical Encyclopedia of Casualty and Other Figures, 1492-2015, 4th ed. By Micheal Clodfelter. The numbers were clearly listed on pages 196 and 197. If there is no dispute will go ahead a fix. - DannyUK190 4:52 PM, 1 August (UTC) |

I deleted the "Much of the reason for the Greek defeat, however, was mainly due to the Ottoman operational numerical superiority" because of lack of reference. Numerical superiority counts for nothing without superior tactics. Rad vsovereign 13:48, 23 July 2007 (UTC) |

==TWO ARMIES== |

It will be interesting if someone could add some more comparisons between the two, eg |
|||
the Greeks were totally unprepared and undertrained and equiped with Gras one-shot Black Powder |

rifles, the Ottoman Army was already a modern army in tactics and equipment. <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by Deadjune1 (talk • contribs) 19:17, 19 August 2008 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot--> |
