Founded in 1994, the Deggendorf Institute of Technology is an applied sciences university in Lower Bavaria, Germany. In addition to its undergraduate and graduate courses, the institute offers doctoral programs in cooperation with Charles Sturt University.

The university has a second English speaking campus located in [[Pfarrkirchen]], as well as eleven research campuses in East Bavaria, which is more than any other university in Bavaria has. The campus in Pfarrkirchen is called European Campus Rottal-Inn and is the only English-speaking campus in Bavaria. The focus of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology lies on Economics, Engineering, Digitalisation and Healthcare. Deggendorf Institute of Technology supports international activities through its university programme structure and its global network of educational institutions and economic research partners. The university currently maintains partnerships with over 200 universities and colleges worldwide. The proportion of international students at DIT is 20%, making the university one of the most international universities in Bavaria.

In 2015, the Deggendorf Institute of Technology opened the European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI) in Pfarrkirchen. It is the first English-speaking university location in Bavaria. The Deggendorf Institute of Technology is one of the fastest growing universities in Bavaria. Throughout DIT's history, ten technology and one healthcare campus were opened on different locations in Bavaria.

The Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT)[3] was founded in 1994. The campus at the Danube river was used from 1998. The R&D labs were developed in 1999. The Innovation and Technology Campus Deggendorf (ITC1) opened in 2001. Faculties were established in 2006, and the bachelor's and master's degree titles were introduced in 2007. Deggendorf University changed its official name to Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) on 1 October 2013.[4]

The institute is affiliated with the World Tourism Organization.[5]
