I understand GACKT keeps his personal life pretty well hidden, but surely this article (or those it sources) could count as source?
In short, it mentions his rather odd-looking finances as well as the fact he has a mistress and child in Vancouver, Canada.
213.106.38.225 (talk) 23:57, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
:After 2-day research it seems all scandals involving him were not found to be real, one or two even on court due to impact on his general public image and career. They were just magazine rumours seeking for attention and issue sales. It would be against Wikipedia principles to include all the rumours, just what would look like celebrity articles, wouldn't they have more text of false rumours then their career? That certainly would give a very distorted image of public figures. Not including them means they did not happen, otherwise could profoundly affect the Wikipedia reliability. Only if they did happen it could be considered for mention - but according Wikipedia principles WP:BLP and WP:FRINGEBLP.--Crovata (talk) 14:24, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

:You are equating how Gackt dresses off stage with, with his stage persona. Yes you can find photos of Gackt looking more masculine when he's not performing on stage. But when he's performing on stage his appearance is far more androgynous. This is how he dressed during his Last Visualive :File:Gackt - Last Moon.jpg. You may as well say Gackt's appearance was "macho" during his Malice Mizer years because because you can find photos of him not wearing heavy make-up and European period costumes during that time period as well. The source you cite says in a footnote.
I have just added archive links to on Gackt. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add cbignore after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
:"This reference is now somewhat dated. Gackt’s current (2017) image tends more toward a “macho” aesthetic that is popular with men as much as with women—a shift which deserves more attention at a later date. His “break” as a member of Malice Mizer, however, still makes his presence here meaningful."
*Added archive https://web.archive.org/20070204063231/http://www.asahi.com:80/culture/update/0331/015.html to http://www.asahi.com/culture/update/0331/015.html
:This quote is misleading it ignores the context that Gackt had paused his music activities during that time. Gackt's androgynous aesthetic is something he adopts when performing on stage or during acting roles. So to claim Gackt "changed his aesthetic to "macho"" is just factually wrong.

:I replaced that quote with Miranda Ruth Larsen's article because it's more up to date and is based on more thorough understanding of Gackt's public career. And Larsen's article does in fact explicitly state that Gackt's appearance is influenced by boys love manga.
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.
:"While occasionally heteronormative, Gackt’s physical appearance and actions during fan service utilize the “expressive tools of yaoi and BL [to] offer a phenomenon that is already several steps ahead—namely, the ‘amusementization of gender’”. Consistently modifying his appearance, emulating the imagery of the bishōnen figure, and participating in aesthetic tie-in campaigns have heavily factored into Gackt’s particular celebrity persona. Considering the strong ties between fan service and the yaoi/BL genres, this is an unsurprising path for such a heavily aestheticized celebrity."

:Miranda Larsen's article is more recent and delves deeply into Gackt's public image. While the source your defending only mentions Gackt in passing and is primarily about visual kei as a whole. I also quoted Gackt's own autobiography because in that he admits to as a basis for his appearance during acting roles. The Adrienne Johnson article is both out of date and factually wrong. == Opportunities ==

This article was a little difficult to copyedit, as the biography section (the bulk of the article) reads like a singles discography in prose, many of the referencing articles are in Japanese, and his Japanese-language autobiography is often cited as the only source for early material, rather than being referenced in terms of the writing, critical reception and reviews. His autobiography would be more appropriately added into the personal life section, rather than being used in the early life section stating facts of his life. For the biography section, it would be appropriate to add critical reception, records broken, awards received, reviews of singles and albums, and also to mention themes of the albums. ~ JourneySarah (talk) 10:01, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

RIAJ claims
The article claims that some of his albums were certified gold by RIAJ, I marked them with citation needed as I manually browsed through the RIAJ database month by month (yes, seriously), and could not find them. I put references to those I did find. Maybe the database is not 100% correct and previously existing older pages might show this, but this is how far my Japanese reading ability with Google Translate takes me. I'd appreciate if a Japanese speaker could check upon these albums and their RIAJ certification. Thanks a lot. Between 4 and 26 January, was made an extensive change of date format. Miki Filigranski All the dates were formatted to match since I wanted to nominate this article for Good Article. I didn't see any consistency in the date formatting when I went through to make all the references match, so I'm not sure where you're coming from that there was a dominate date format. ::Miki FiligranskiI am not concerned with the removal of any images. The lead should cover information presented in the article, which includes early life. This quote is misleading it ignores the context that Gackt had paused his music activities during that time. Gackt's androgynous aesthetic is something he adopts when performing on stage or during acting roles. So to claim Gackt "changed his aesthetic to "macho"" is just factually wrong.
I replaced that quote with Miranda Ruth Larsen's article because it's more up to date and is based on more thorough understanding of Gackt's public career. And Larsen's article does in fact explicitly state that Gackt's appearance is influenced by boys love manga.
