The university was founded in 1968 as part of the [[Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil]] in the city of Cuenca under the name of the "Institute of Philosophy and Educational Sciences". On December 3, 1970, with the creation of the School of Accounting, it was renamed "Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil in Cuenca". On December 11, 1970, Claudio Malo took office as its Academic Director, appointed by the General Board of Professors on December 10, 1970.

Universidad del Azuay (UDA) is an Ecuadorian university located in the Province of Azuay, its campus are in the city of Cuenca and in the parish of Baños.[1]

The university was founded in 1968 as part of the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil in the city of Cuenca under the name of the "Institute of Philosophy and Educational Sciences". It was authorized by the Holy See in May 1969.[2][3][4]
