Hi, I read and appreciated this article. Thanks to the editors and writers for your work. I'd like to suggest one tiny edit to make one sentence less awkward. Instead of writing "The terms "'''girl gamer'''" or "'''gamer girl'''" have been used as a [[Reappropriation|reappropriated term]] for female players to describe themselves, but it has also been criticized as counterproductive or offensive," have you thought of something like "The terms ‘girl gamer’ or ‘gamer girl’ are sometimes used by female players as a [[reappropriation|reappropriated term]], but they have also faced criticism for being counterproductive or offensive." == 80/20% Statistic ==

"In May 1982, sociologist Sidney J. Kaplan reported the composition of arcade video game players to be roughly 80% male and 20% female."

This statistic was based on the author sitting at two arcades for a total of eight hours counting how many males and females played two or more games. I intended on using this in my paper, but it doesn't seem like a good enough study to me. The rest of the paper gives a very narrow scope of opinions as the survey participants were the students of one freshman sociology class. Suggested edit for grammar

[edit]

Hi, I read and appreciated this article. Thanks to the editors and writers for your work. I'd like to suggest one tiny edit to make one sentence less awkward. Instead of writing "The terms "girl gamer" or "gamer girl" have been used as a reappropriated term for female players to describe themselves, but it has also been criticized as counterproductive or offensive," have you thought of something like "The terms ‘girl gamer’ or ‘gamer girl’ are sometimes used by female players as a reappropriated term, but they have also faced criticism for being counterproductive or offensive." 80/20% Statistic

[edit]

"In May 1982, sociologist Sidney J. Kaplan reported the composition of arcade video game players to be roughly 80% male and 20% female."

This statistic was based on the author sitting at two arcades for a total of eight hours counting how many males and females played two or more games. I intended on using this in my paper, but it doesn't seem like a good enough study to me. The rest of the paper gives a very narrow scope of opinions as the survey participants were the students of one freshman sociology class. Beedoopbeedoop (talk) 00:40, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
