'''''Artificial '''''is a 2012 [[Telugu language|Telugu]] short film that was produced and directed by [[Vijay Vemuri]]. The film had its world debut on 27 April 2012 and revolves around the fantasies of a young couple.

==Production==
==Plot==
A beautiful young housewife (Supriya Aysola) finds herself bored with her daily life and routine. As an escape she comes up with various daydreams and fantasies to make herself and the people around her more exciting.
The film was shot using a rented Canon 5D close to four years after the script was written. Available for viewing on Youtube, the film, Artificial was made on a budget of 250,000 Indian Rupees and Vijay still says that he could have made it for lesser. It took him two years to find the right people to help him make his movie.

==Casting==
The casting process alone took close to two years to complete but he believes the efforts have paid off. “Abhinav and Supriya both did an excellent job, I just gave them a narration and they figured out the rest,” he says. The film portrays an upper middle class couple in India. On a seemingly normal premise, demonic possession, strange fantasies come to the fore.

==Director's Take==
The director was quoted as saying, “When you watch the film, you’ll find the film and the situation to be unreal; the sequences deliberately lack consistency to depict a lack of balance and ‘truth’. Hence it becomes ‘Artificial’. Perhaps this subject might be too vague for people to get. Messages need to be loud, otherwise people don’t get it. The inspiration for the film came from a late night TV show. There used to be a show which dealt with extreme psycho-sexual disorders that was aired in the midnight on a news channel. I have been told that it's a difficult subject. I just wanted to delve into my latent talent for story-telling. I do understand that I have left it rather blank towards the end but people with a discerning eye have appreciated it.”<ref>{{cite web|author=vishnupriya bhandaram |url=http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-features/tp-cinemaplus/unreal-layers/article4063105.ece |title=Unreal layers |publisher=The Hindu |date=2012-11-04 |accessdate=2013-03-20}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|author=Karthik Pasupulate, TNN Oct 31, 2012, 11.58PM IST |url=http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2012-10-31/news-interviews/34836419_1_short-film-first-film-filmmaker |title=International honour for Hyderabadi filmmaker - Times Of India |publisher=Articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com |date=2012-10-31 |accessdate=2013-03-20}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.nevadafilmfestival.com/Festival/2012_Platinum_Awards.aspx |title=2012 Platinum Reel Award Winners |publisher=Nevadafilmfestival.com |date= |accessdate=2013-03-20}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70MXo9XX_Ko |title=News coverage of telugu short film ARTIFICIAL - 1 |publisher=YouTube |date=2012-09-28 |accessdate=2013-03-20}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|author=Suresh Krishnamoorthy |url=http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-features/tp-downtown/article3474559.ece#.T8bN9ivXj9M.wordpress |title=Watch out for this intriguing short film |publisher=The Hindu |date=2012-05-31 |accessdate=2013-03-20}}</ref>
