Many<ref>http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Toxic-Bunny-HD-Joins-Steam-Greenlight-49465.html</ref> say the game is a psychedelic parody of [[Epic Games]] character, [[Jazz Jackrabbit]], due to similar game play and the fact that the main protagonist is also a rabbit. However the developers disagree, instead claiming inspirations from the popular 1994 game [[Earthworm Jim]]. Toxic Bunny is filled with an abundance of cheesy 90's references and high speed antics.

Celestial Games, having re-opened in 2010, started porting Toxic Bunny to Java and decided to give the game a full revamp. This included reanimating sprites and redrawing all the levels. It was released as a boxed product in South Africa on 5 October 2012 under the name [[Toxic Bunny HD]]. It is also available for digital sale on the Celestial Games website.<ref>http://celestial-games.com/toxicbunnyhd.html</ref> The developers of the title, are currently building version 1.3 in [[Unity (Game Engine)]] which should be completed May 2013.

Toxic Bunny is a side-scrolling action platform game for DOS computers released in 1996 by Celestial Games. The game's premise is that a bunny named Toxic, a coffee-guzzling, gun-slinging maniac, is having a really bad day. The game covers four large levels: Toxic hunts the person (or animal) responsible for interrupting his coffee break, brainwashing all his friends, and covering the planet with a decaffeinated goo. Within the game, you can use any number of incredibly large weapons, including a Nitric Hamster Launcher, while squashing aliens with rusty nautical equipment.[1]
