The album has enjoyed highly positive reviews from many music critics. [[Allmusic]] and [[Sputnikmusic]] were very impressed with this release and both gave the album four and a half stars out of five. [[Terrorizer Magazine]] gave the album eight and a half stars out of ten and [[Spirit of Metal]] scored the release eighteen points out of twenty.

The Carnival Bizarre is the third studio album by British doom metal band Cathedral, released in September 1995 through Earache Records.[1]

Released in 1996, the related Hopkins (The Witchfinder General) EP features that titular track along with four additional songs.
