== Error on page. Suggested change. by [[User:KirkJTorrance|KirkJTorrance]] ([[User talk:KirkJTorrance|talk]]) updated 19:10, 10 November 2013 (UTC) ==

The following paragraph has incorrect statements and is copied from David Torrance's book, "Salmond Against the Odds". The errors in the hardback, were corrected in the paperback edition of the book.

The paragraph in question is:

Salmond attended the local Linlithgow Academy 1966-1972. He studied at Edinburgh College of Commerce 1972-1973, gaining an HNC in Business Studies,[9] and was then accepted by the University of St Andrews, where he studied Economics and Medieval History. During his time at St Andrews, Salmond lived in St Salvator's Hall. He was elected as Vice-President (Education) of the Students' Representative Council in 1977 and was also nominated to join St Andrews Community Council that year.[10] Salmond graduated with a 2:2 Joint Honours MA in Economics and Medieval History in May 1978.[10][11]

I'd suggest the following to correct the inaccuracies:

Salmond attended Linlithgow Academy 1966-1972. He studied at Edinburgh College of Commerce 1972-1973 [8] and was then accepted by the University of St Andrews, from where he graduated with a joint honours MA in Economics and Medieval History in May 1978. During his time at St Andrews, Salmond lived in St Salvator's Hall. He was elected as Vice-President (Education) of the Students’ Representative Council in 1977 and was also nominated to join St Andrews Community Council that year.[9]

The current article stops in March 2020, but obviously there has been a huge amount of media coverage about Salmond and the Scottish Parliamentary inquiry. == Alex's Portrait Picture ==

In the section on Salmond's untimely demise, STV News is quoted as calling him "one of the biggest figures in modern Scottish politics". STV News is infamous for being one of Salmond's fiercest detractors, and this remark strikes me as a snide jibe at his lifelong struggle with morbid obesity. This quotation should be removed, lest it sully Salmond's legacy. He should be remembered for what he was - a capable but handsy politician who lost a landmark referendum on Scottish independence. :Agree with Bondegezou. I know nothing of STV's alleged leanings (as a UK broadcaster it should have none) but I can't see this as a statement on anything but his prominence. Short and slim people are also referred to as "biggest figures" in their fields; the members of Oasis, Nirvana and Radiohead are hardly fat. [https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/03/7-iconic-musicians-hated-biggest-hit-singles-20769547/] As an aside, I never thought of Salmond as particularly fat for a 21st-century Western man, definitely not "morbidly obese". Inclusion of pejorative remarks by STV News?

In the section on Salmond's untimely demise, STV News is quoted as calling him "one of the biggest figures in modern Scottish politics". STV News is infamous for being one of Salmond's fiercest detractors, and this remark strikes me as a snide jibe at his lifelong struggle with morbid obesity.
