Bhagwati Devi Sharma was an Indian social reformer who was the co-founder of AWGP[1][2] and patron founder of Akhand Jyoti.[3]
Personal life
[edit]Bhagvati Devi married Shriram Sharma in 1946.[4] She assisted him in managing All World Gayatri Pariwar (AWGP) and after his death, she succeeded him as head of AWGP.[5] Her followers call her Mataji (transl. respected mother).[2][4]
Honors
[edit]- A school in Jhansi is named after her.[6][7]
- Her death anniversary was celebrated in Giridih.[8][9]
- In her death anniversary, 105 lamps were lighted in Shantikunj.[10][11]
- Her death anniversary is celebrated as Prakaatya Diwas in Jharkhand.[12]
