Aculco de Espinoza lies in the north of the state of Mexico. The town of Aculco de Espinoza is the municipal seat and urban place most populated in the Aculco municipality. The town is divided in ''[[barrio]]s'' (neighborhoods) and ''ejidos''.

About Aculco’s economy the principals sectors are:
• Agriculture: maize (corn), with 80 % of the cultivable area and in minor percentage there is the bean, oats and vegetables as lettuce, carrots and radishes. And fruits like; pear, apple, plum, small peach, capulín, perón, tejocote, sapota, lemon, lime and orange.
• Ranching : production of porcine, bovinely, sheep, caprino and equine.

==History of Aculco.==

Aculco was founded approximately in 1110 A.D. by Otomies, despite its name comes from the Nahuatl. After being a village inhabited by Otomies for long time, it was a region dominated by the Mexicas, who lived on it many years before the founding of Tenochtitlan.

With the arrived of Spanish beginning the construction of the church and the convent of San Jeronimo in 1540, whose architecture is a Baroque. In November 1810, arrived in this village Miguel Hidalgo and his contingent, was where he began to shape the course of our country, was also where insurgents, led by Don Miguel Hidalgo, lost a battle by the troops of Felix Ma. Calleja.

During the nineteenth century, was the building of the municipal presidency, the first primary school education, construction of public wash houses, the municipal pool and repair of the rotor shaft eye water, which is had a people for domestic use. On February 19 1825, Aculco was formed as a municipality. In the years of 1914 and 1915 this town was the scene of clashes led by the revolutionaries’ carrancistas, villistas and Zapatistas.

The parish and the ex-convent of San Jeronimo dated 1540 the remains of exhaciendas Arroyo Zarco and the Brotherhood and aqueducts known as arcs.
The house where lived the father Miguel Hidalgo.

Aculco de Espinoza or San Jerónimo Aculco (Acolco in Nahuatl and Ndamëje in Otomi) is a town and municipal seat of the Aculco Municipality, State of Mexico in Mexico.[4]

The town is located on the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, trade were collectively added to the World Heritage List. In 2015, Aculco de Espinoza was declared a Pueblo Mágico by the Enrique Peña Nieto's government.[5]

The name Acolco comes from Nahuatl language. It has been interpreted to mean “place where twist the river arms,” The arm is atl (water) and coltic (bent), de lastname “Espinoza” was added to the name by the municipality government of in 1954 in honor of Ignacio Espinosa, a Mexican philanthropist born in this town.[6]
