== Begum Aneese Majid Khan ==

Born in India in 1927, Mrs.Aneese Majid Khan migrated to Pakistan in 1952 and settled in Lahore where she established the famous Esena Foundation School on most modern lines. She belongs to the famous Imam family and is the daughter of late Syed Jaffar Imam,the Chief Justice of Indian Supreme Court.She is a scholar of great prominence and has authored, knowledgeable books on Islam:-"The New Arab World", "Insight into Islam" and "The Echoes Of The Eternal" Being herself a poetess also she has beautifully translated the Koranic verses under the title: "Poetical Echoes of the Eternal Message". She received the award of "Saint" at the International Religious Conference held in Tokyo, and the award of "Jerusalem star" from Mr.Yaseer Arafat for her services to the Palestinian cause. She has also been the recipient of "International Merit Crystal Award" and many other national and international awards for her services to the cause of Islam.

Esena Foundation High School (Urdu: ایسنا فاؤنڈیشن ہائی اسکول) was a private fee-paying academic institution for girls only. It was located in Gulberg, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.

History

It was established in 1964 by Begum Anesa Majid Khan.[1] Esena was the very first private education institute for girls in Pakistan. Esena's director Begum Majid was the daughter of the late Imam Jafer, the chief justice of India. She died in 2013.[2]

The school closed in 2017.[3]
