Article has a note from October 2017 proposing a split for the material on professional supply chain certification programmes. The proposal discussion is archived with no discussion other that the split proposal by Biogeographist. I agree that the table seems too large and specific for this article and support the proposed split, but I would call the article "Supply chain certification programmes" without the reference to "comparisons". - BobKilcoyne (talk) 05:25, 25 March 2021 (UTC) |

:Biogeographist I'd be happy to help effect the split, given that it seems to have consensus. However, the current section "Organisation", which would presumably form the basis of the new page, seems to be based entirely on a single 2009 book on the topic, which would be a little thin for a standalone article. Do any of you have some sources which could be used to build the new page, or would even be able to sketch up a draft? ::There seems to be some scholarly work on the topic, such as this, so I suspect notability is not an issue. Felix QW (talk) 15:30, 27 May 2023 (UTC) |

Disagree with my own split proposal: Actually, I would suggest just removing the split template and keeping the table in this article. I suggested the split so long ago that I don't even remember doing it, and I've changed my mind: now I think the table is not big enough for a separate article. However, I still agree with the formatting changes that I suggested. Thanks for drawing attention to this. Biogeographist (talk) 20:09, 28 May 2023 (UTC) |

:Is the level of detail set out in the table still required? The terms "high" and "low" are not defined. What do they actually mean? The only reference cited in this section is Jacoby's 2009 Guide. Is all this detail cited in Jacoby? If so it is going to be out-of-date? Tramaricoa et als analysis looking at preferences and relevance to SCM is a useful reference but does not list topics to the extent covered by this table. I would prefer to remove the table completely. BobKilcoyne (talk) 02:28, 30 July 2023 (UTC) |

I have recently come across an interesting whitepaper that addresses the key issues in supply chain management and suggests means to streamline the irregularities.10:17, 8 January 2015 (UTC)10:17, 8 January 2015 (UTC)10:17, 8 January 2015 (UTC)~ <small><span class="autosigned">— Preceding unsigned comment added by Vedanga Kumar (talk • contribs) </span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot--> |

I would like to add www.buyersmeetingpoint.com as a link under supply chain management. This is an eductional site for procurement professionals to share experiences and knowledge among their peers. The majority of information is available at no cost. There is a forum for professionals to share their knowledge and ask questions to others in the industry. This seems to be a helpful and appropriate link for those interested in procurement.BMPmanagement (talk) 00:18, 3 August 2008 (UTC) |

:See WP:EL. In general, such links are inappropriate. You probably should read WP:COI as well if you haven't yet. --Ronz (talk) 01:39, 3 August 2008 (UTC) |

The definition of Supply Chain Management given in the first paragraph is quite adequate but I think it needs to be made clear that Supply Chain Management is nothing more than a rather long-winded name for what used to be called Operations, but I will leave it to the original author as to how he/she may like to word it.Snookerrobot (talk) 21:05, 26 August 2008 (UTC) |

SCM subsumes Ops Management, insofar as Ops is insular, looking at the input/output of an isolated system, e.g., a production floor, whereas SCM looks at a daisy-chain of such cells, e.g., from raw materials to consumer. *Some* Ops Managers started calling themselves SCMs as information technology allowed (and international business demanded) a wider and more transparent view of sourcing and distribution, but there are still "just" Ops Managers. I just a completed a merge from Certified Supply Chain Professional to the Certification section. Feel free to edit for better integration into the main article. Looking over the work, it is my impression that the big cert organization table, while referenced at some level, probably has quite a lot of synthesis, per WP:SYNTHESIS, in its creation. It may be better to delete it, but I will leave that to the experts to determine. --Mark viking (talk) 18:10, 8 February 2016 (UTC) |
