I wanted to add more infor to the entry to "Gimme More" but it was locked in Wikipedia, but apparently according to US Magazine (http://usmagazine.com/britney_spears_39) a source tells that Spears was spotted "crying badly [backstage]. She's devastated. She was really nervous and knwo she screwed up." Britney may have know how horrible her performance when a VMA insider said Spears fired her hairstylist right before performing which would explain her horrendous hair. Many fan blog's have stated that MTV decided to axe her performance involving Criss Angel as the Palm Casino Hotel's insurance would not cover the act they wanted to perform. Britney was told to change her performance and had a short space of time to rehearse it.

So MTV would be a source that matters. Several artists stood up for her most notablly Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls, 50 Cent and several other fans commented on MTV as well. IF were going to put a negative up then the postive should be showed as well. As equal oppourtunity and to keep a semblence of NPOV and unbaised enteries. I have no problem with the negative being shown as long as the postive is shown as well. This is getting a little ridiculous don't you all think? The section on the VMA performance is larger than any other part of the article and there are many other sources that praised it or had reasons as to why it didn't do so well. Why are we focusing so much on this particular VMA performance anyway? She performed 'I'm A Slave 4 U' in 2001 and i don't see the VMA performance dominating that article. I just edited the article and posted some postive stuff about the performence. If anyone has a problem with that just comment on this thread here. I did it because I thought it was important that the article be balanced and be non biased.

I'm not sure we need such a huge section on the VMA performance in the first place, I've never seen such an article for anyone's public performance and we certainly don't need to know what every celebrity, blog, and poll says. A more condensed version of that section or condensing it and merging it with the 'Reception' section would be more appropriate for an encyclopedia. We can delete the Yahoo stuff since that maybe is a little overkill and makes the article too long, but I think its biased to put a lot of positive stuff in the article since it is clear to anyone who just looks around the internet that the performance has received very negative reaction from a vast majority of people. I have a problem with there being something about how a lot of people loved the performance, since all I've seen is even the most die hard Britney fans say negative things about the performance. Of course there's always going to be some people who liked it, but all I've seen online since last night is articles about how terrible the performance was, thats why I created the section in the first place, because wikipedia is supposed to document notable things, and nothings been more notable on just about every entertainment related site. Just to note: 1.) The VMA performance SHOULD be mentioned, as it's one of the most notable things about the song, having rapidly become an outright infamous performance. It shouldn't completely take over the article, either, but it should definitely be in there. I realize it seems silly or weird to some people, but it really is, unfortunately, one of the most notable things about the song: that its first public performance was supposed to mark her comeback, and bombed (how badly it bombed depends on who you ask; personally, I've seen and done worse, even without the alleged Magarita, insane pressure, or complicated dance moves, so I'm somewhat sympathetic. Live performances are hard), despite the song eventually doing quite well... though arguably, the attention might have actually helped, but there's not necessarily any real way to confirm such a thing of course. 2.) Be careful how you speak of said performance. There weren't really very many "positives", really, so much as people reacting sympathetically or unsympathetically to it. Plenty of people have claimed she was forced or manipulated into giving the performance; others have claimed it was simply rushed; I've even heard something through the grape vine about, again, a Margarita beforehand... and still others seem to think that if she wasn't ready for a comeback, she shouldn't have attempted it, and react without pity to the incident. But none of this is what I would regard as "positive" per se. NPOV is one thing, but ignoring the truth is quite another; the performance was received neutrally - with pity, understanding, and "I've seen worst" - at best and as a disastrous laughingstock at worst. :Trimmed, you mean. Again, it's unfortunately one of the most notable things about the song. But, of course, it should never be allowed to dominate the page or descend into nothing more than a POV mess - it's just that I want to point out here that it's silly to say "it needs to be deleted" (again, as opposed to editing and trimming), when it's obviously notable in relation to the song (look at enough other detailed song articles, and you'll notice that at least brief information about notable performances is typically ''included''; this performance was definitely a notable one, even if it wasn't in a good way). Note of course that I speak only of mentioning the controversy - two paragraphs, at most - surrounding the performance. Her main article is already crazy-long, so it's best to keep any detailed, um, details, on subpages. If it gets really out of hand, perhaps we can split it into a sub-article like they did for the [[Mel Gibson DUI incident]]. Considering the performance is shaping up to have had at least as much significance as the song (the song is doing reasonably well, but the performance was described as a possible ''career''-ender, and goodness knows it can't possibly have helped her child custody case...); sadly, it's probably as much cultural significance, to boot, as the incident detailed in the article I just linked in the last sentence. So, it's not exactly without precedent - and, it may well keep this article a heck of a lot cleaner for those who are more interested in the chart performance than the live performance. ;) I realize we aren't "Entertainment Tonight"... but keep in mind we're already one of the best ''pop culture'' resources on the planet. The VMA info should stay due to the fact that the performance is easily what most people will remember the song by. Also, info is not biased, just accurately reporting on the reaction, and unfortunately for many of the fans, the reaction has been almost universally negative. This info does belong on the song's page, just like info about the Ashlee Simpson SNL disaster is reported on the [[Pieces of Me]] page.

No, this was just going to be a promotional video, but a full, longer one was made with more scenes and a completely different and more interesting storyline. It was considered too risque for television, so no one aired it and Jive decided not to release the full video. There's an online petition going around for Jive to release the full video. I think the petition is worth a mention. Like for the "My Only Wish (This Year) thing on breatheheavy.com, the campaign to get the song to the top of the iTunes chart was mentioned, and I think that this is just as important. This is the image they are using to promote it.

Has there been a new rule for formats available for singles? The one in the page as of now lists three versions, and apart from the itunes one it is not even stated if it's a cd or vinyl. Having them, I know they are cds, however there are at least 4 vinyl versions of the single, is it ok to list them ?? :According to the editors edit summary, the inforamtion was wrong which it was as Gimme More wasn't number one in most of the countries listed on the chart table. Updating Article Status

I am going too review this song article and check the references to make sure that they have correctly stated most of the info in each. Also, It might be best too put that there is a second video for "Gimme More", It is mentioned in the aricle Britney Spears videography I am just wondering why it is not mentioned here? I wrote the videography a long time ago when I still didn't know about GA. Truth is there is no such thing as a real source mentioning a second version; if the scenes were unreleased then there is no source to them. I will delete the information.
