He has secured first position in the state of Assam in Higher Secondary School Leaving Examination in 1972, first position in the University in his first, second and final MBBS examinations from Assam Medical College in 1977. He did his Postgraduate from Gauhati Medical College in Medicine in 1982 and was further trained in Cardiology, Echocardiography etc. G.B. His fictional works have been translated into Hindi, English, Bengali, Malayalam and Bodo languages. Katha Ratnakar (2007)[3] is based on the situation of the marginalised Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Assam and the lives of Keots (Kaibartas).
