One of Hohler's most famous works is the "Totemügerli". It's a Swiss-German story based upon a fabulous creature, written to make fun of the particular dialect spoken in the Canton of [[Bern]] by using words sounding like the Bernese dialect but which aren't real words. His collection of witty short stories ''Der Stein'' (2011) features border-crossing between the realistic and the fantastic. It is humorous and thought-provoking.<ref>{{cite web | url=http://www.new-books-in-german.com/english/1046/335/96/129002/design1.html | title=Franz Hohler Der Stein (The Stone) | publisher=New Books in German | access-date=20 December 2012 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20151206221932/http://www.new-books-in-german.com/english/1046/335/96/129002/design1.html | archive-date=6 December 2015 | url-status=dead }}</ref> |
