The pink lanternshark has a relatively short head and a broad mouth. The eyes are narrow, the upper eyelid being without a pale naked patch. The first [[dorsal fin]] is well behind the rear tip of the [[pectoral fin]]. The [[caudal peduncle]] is short. [[Denticle]]s are minute, bristle-like, and mostly randomly arranged. |

The pink lanternshark (Etmopterus dianthus) is a shark of the family Etmopteridae found around Australia and New Caledonia, at depths of between 110 and 880 m.[citation needed] Its length is up to 41 cm.
Reproduction is ovoviviparous.
