[edit]In the 2006, 2001, 1996, 1991 and 1987 state assembly elections Naren Dey Forward Bloc won the Chinsurah assembly seat defeating his nearest rivals Ashis Sen of Trinamool Congress in 2006,[15] Robin Mukherjee of Trinamool Congress in 2001,[14] Tapan Dasgupta of Congress in 1996[13] and 1991,[12] and Chandra Kumar Dey of Congress in 1987.[11] Sambhu Charan Ghosh of Forward Bloc defeated Rabin Mukherjee of Congress in 1982[10] and Chandra Kumar Dey of Congress in 1977.[9][18]
