"Deemed to be homophobic"?
[edit]\No, the things he wrote were plainly and utterly homophobic. No one had to "deem" them to be homophobic, they were outright homophobic and self-evidently homophobic. This should be clear.
- Wikipedia, by nature, uses neutral language. Wikipedia makes no claims on its own, it reports what others claim. Therefore that language is appropriate. Madbrad200 (talk) 15:21, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Watch Dogs: Legion appearance
[edit]I just added the two sentences describing his appearance in Watch Dogs: Legion but I am not happy with my own grammar or format with the citations. It doesn't really seem to flow or fit. I invite better editors to fix that up for me. While I was in there, I saw the sentences above (albums and appearances) are mixed with the sentences below (activism, net worth, awards) and believe they should likely be separate paragraphs. Again: I will defer to better editors than me to make that decision. I'm a gamer after all, not a wikipedia editor for musicians. I just didn't want that excellent appearance to be absent from his wikipedia page.

- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 19:24, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
GCSEs
[edit]Stormzy's rather conspicuously difficult-to-credit claim to have taken 14 GCSEs (unless he did the standard 10-12 at school, and did some more later?) cites the NME article; a BBC source- https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-45206266 (same numbers given by the Standard https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/stormzy-surprises-alevel-students-at-his-old-school-in-croydon-as-he-announces-scholarship-to-send-two-black-pupils-to-cambridge-a3912861.html)- gives "He didn't go to university, but did get six A*s, three As and three Bs at GCSE." It's... extremely non-standard to take 14 GCSEs, even for the absolute top set, Gifted and Talented-designated students- it's simply not that easy to schedule, nor is it advised to wastefully spread a student's efforts so thin for basically no benefit whatsoever. No reason to suppose he lacked intelligence, but scheduling-wise 11, maybe 12 (if, for example, a student has another language at home and can more-or-less get a GCSE for minimal extra effort), is considered "a lot". In addition to the fact that, as he himself says, he had little interest in presenting himself as the model student, it seems unlikely the school would have considered it worthwhile to put the effort into wrangling things for him to DO 14 GCSEs. Maybe he misremembered, maybe he's slightly embellishing the matter to give background to his involvement in provision of educational opportunities for black youth (see quotes like: "In school and college I had the ability and was almost destined to go to one of the top universities. But that didn't happen for myself... so hopefully there's another young black student out there that can have that opportunity through my scholarship."), but given two different sources (is the BBC superior quality to NME? Debatably so) give two different statements, one considerably less extravagant/ difficult to believe than the other, it might be worth providing the alternative statement/ source just for the article reader's own judgement to come into play. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.200.236 (talk) 01:03, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed his statements cannot be true, as no school in the UK allows any student to sit more than 11 GCSEs, yet alone 5 A-levels. This also applies to private day and boarding schools too. He's clearly embellishing his school record to sound cleverer than he is. 92.27.180.7 (talk) 03:41, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Would anyone at Wikipedia acknowledge this obvious fact or are they too scared to criticise a black person? 91.125.3.199 (talk) 08:15, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
