::Mr KEBAB Thanks. Could I ask you how to find Serbian names, surnames and even words' pronunciation? You've given me a URL HJP but I can't access to it... LoveVanPersie (talk) 18:07, 27 December 2017 (UTC) |

:::LoveVanPersie That's because the correct link is , with http, not https. If you can't access that one either, there's nothing I could do about that. There are at least two dictionaries that I'm aware of that provide pronunciation for Serbo-Croatian words (I'm not sure about names/surnames), and these are Rečnik srpskohrvatskoga književnog jezika (1990) and Bosansko-slovenski rječnik (2014). The first one is written in the cyrillic alphabet, so it's pretty much a nightmare to use for anyone who's can't fluently read cyrillic. Remember that Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin are one language (see Serbo-Croatian) with the Eastern Herzegovinian dialect being the pronunciation standard for all of them. This is another reason why it's so ludicrous when people from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro claim they all speak different languages. No, they don't. |

:::As far as conjugated/declined forms are concerned, they're also not very easy to learn. It's not enough that you know that lonac (nom. sg., meaning 'pot') is pronounced [lǒnats] (with a short rising vowel), you also need to know that lonca (gen. sg.) is pronounced [lǒːntsa] (with a long rising vowel), lonče (voc. sg.) is pronounced [lôːntʃe] (with a long falling vowel) etc. Some of these patterns are listed in Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, a Textbook and/or Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, a Grammar (both were published in 2006). If you aren't serious about learning the language, don't learn them. You'll immediately forget them. Mr KEBAB (talk) 18:40, 27 December 2017 (UTC) |

:::::LoveVanPersie [krǐstijan] is the correct IPA for Kristijan, yes. But Pulišić isn't in HJP, so I don't know about that word. Mr KEBAB (talk) 19:21, 27 December 2017 (UTC) |

The pronunciation
[edit]@Mr KEBAB: Do you know the correct transcription? LoveVanPersie (talk) 14:43, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
- @LoveVanPersie: Only of the first name, which is [ʒêːʎko]. Mr KEBAB (talk) 16:55, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Mr KEBAB: Thanks. Could I ask you how to find Serbian names, surnames and even words' pronunciation? You've given me a URL HJP but I can't access to it... LoveVanPersie (talk) 18:07, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
- @LoveVanPersie: That's because the correct link is [1], with http, not https.

- As far as conjugated/declined forms are concerned, they're also not very easy to learn. Mr KEBAB (talk) 18:40, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you. And are the transcriptions correct in Christian Pulisic? "Croatian: Kristijan Mate Pulišić [kri:sti:jan mǎːte pu:li:ʃitɕ]" But it's [krǐstijan] in HJP. LoveVanPersie (talk) 19:10, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
- @LoveVanPersie: [krǐstijan] is the correct IPA for Kristijan, yes. But Pulišić isn't in HJP, so I don't know about that word. Mr KEBAB (talk) 19:21, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
