He went on to pursue higher education at Cotton College, a prestigious institution known for its academic rigor and commitment to excellence. Barma's short film "Ahalya" won the Best Silent Film Award at the recent Indo-French International Film Festival.[17][14][15] He received a prestigious award at the Kazakhstan International Film Festival in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the film industry, particularly his efforts in promoting Assamese folklore through his innovative films.[18][19]
