Damola Ayegbayo (born 1988) is a Nigerian contemporary visual artist and painter.[5][6][7]
He has an estimated 1000 works of painting and visual arts and his artwork is displayed in Osun State capital.[1][8][9]
Early life and education
[edit]Damola Ayegbayo was born in 1988 in Ejigbo, Osun State, Nigeria. He pursued his higher education at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine and Applied Arts.[5][3][10][11]
Art career history
[edit]His artwork was commissioned for The Color Purple.[3][4]
World of women Non-fungible token (NFT) featured Damola on their international projects in partnership with OpenSea[12] and Saatchi Art as the only African artist in the world of women NFT projects, Target,[13]Wayfair, and Vincent van Gogh.[6][14][15] [16]
He has held exhibitions in Nigeria, the US, the UK, Canada, and European countries.[17] His paintings have been auctioned by Jasper52, LiveAuctioneers,[18] and Bidhaus and bought by private collectors like Marcus Gardley, Jimmy Akingbola, Jean-Michel Basquiat sister Lisane Basquiat.[15][19][20]
In 2022, HarperCollins Publishers LLC, USA used his artwork "Unconditional love 2" on a book cover titled "Relations An Anthology of African and Diaspora Voices" written by Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond[4] and his work titled “Purpose of Existence” was used as the cover art for a campaign to support promoting black women's mental health by the Cambridge University Press United Kingdom.[8]
In 2023, his artwork “Vision of Hope” was used for a film documentary “HANDLE WITH CARE” by Jimmy Akingbola.[2]
