[edit]

Hi .... I added a preliminary biography box Wuzee (talk) 10:12, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that! I added a little more to it. --Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 20:52, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why were my edits removed?

[edit]

I added two things: Chang stating that he is Chinese, and a sentence about Chang's 2023 single which he wrote with his fiancee. Both were sourced. Why were they removed? UncattyValley2000 (talk) 16:45, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We don't state ethnicity as nationality. "Chang is Chinese" implies that he has Chinese nationality. Additionally, we don't say "So-and-so is black," for instance (or say "So-and-so is of European ancestry), or highlight ethnicity in such a contextless and isolated manner. Don't single people out for non-European ancestry. If you want to cite that Chang's Chinese ancestry has influenced his career, that would be fine and supported by the reference.
But I didn't mean to remove the edit concerning the single, and will put than back. Acroterion (talk) 18:19, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for putting the single info back. I added a sentence at the end of his personal section about his feelings on diversity in the entertainment industry, and how he feels it is probably significant for other Chinese men to see Chinese men such as himself in the entertainment field. The Chinese are a distinct ethnic group, not just a nationality. And Chang identifies as Chinese. I suggest you see Wikipedia's own article on Ethnicity UncattyValley2000 (talk) 21:41, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your last addition is fine, it gives appropriate context and relationship to his work. Acroterion (talk) 00:23, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback :) UncattyValley2000 (talk) 01:20, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
