:@[[User:Cltjames|Cltjames]] to put an icing on the cake, according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Sources, The Sportster is considered an unreliable source. Granted, it's about professional wrestling, but apparently the website falls under criteria "Avoid using these sources. I see no reason why would they treat boxing differently , if their reporting of the primary target (pro wrestling) is clearly tabloid-esque. ::Ok, I'm not saying that only source needs to be used. Just the structure of the {{em|Financial Details}} section can be improved to display the correct details of how the purses were distributed based on guaranteed income before the fight and PPV sales afterwards. So, I'll look for another source confirming the pay day, because the reference only states before, and not after based on these factors I have mentioned. [edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Wladimir Klitschko, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Michael Grant (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:46, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Fury-Usyk
[edit]Please stop reverting the prize money for Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk#Financial details. The way boxing works is the pay day for a PPV fight is calculated before and after the fight depending on PPV sales as well as prize money. The projected purses are adjusted after the fight, so there are 2 different amounts to calculate. I have added a section based on the before and after in the financial details paragraph. It only makes sense to show the projected and real amounts and these are correctly sourced. So, please stop reverting and leave it as it is, there is no need for an edit war. Cltjames (talk 14:58, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Cltjames I'm fully aware of how are purses projected after the fight. The problem is that the source you provided is a) far less respectable than The Independent and The Guardian b) Makes no sense when you remember what Guardian and Independent wrote about guaranteed purses before the fight. Check them out. They say that the total purse payout is around $150 million ≈ £116 million split 70/30 in favor of Fury and that Fury is guaranteed £81.2 million. Then check out exchange rates between UK pound and US dollar. £81.2 million that Tyson Fury was guaranteed equates to roughly $105 million. Not only that, but that also means Usyk is guaranteed at least $45 million.
- 1) The Sportster basically says that Fury earned f*ck all from the PPV revenue, and Usyk's purse somehow dropped by at least $7-8 million?
- 2) Independent and Guardian say that Fury was guaranteed £81.2 million. That means that the boxer is contractually obligated to receive no less than £81.2 million, regardless of whether the event made a profit or lost money. The same way Usyk was guaranteed roughly $45 million, or the remaining 30%.
- So either Independent and Guardian made false claims, or Sportster did. We cannot know for sure, but Independent and Guardian are far more well-known, and were actually confirmed as generally reliable sources (sebe Wikipedia:reliable sources/Perennial sources), while Sportster is rather niche in comparison and its reliability hasn't really been discussed.
