A major in [[political science]] at [[Stanford University]], Lambert joined the USA national team on an extended tryout basis in July [[1995]]. He made a breakthrough at the August '95 Centennial Cup in Atlanta, and began seeing more playing time in subsequent domestic tours against Italy and Japan. Playing as an opposite he elevated to starting lineup for World Cup '95.

Michael Allen Lambert (born April 14, 1974)[1] is an American former volleyball player who is a two-time Olympian with the United States national volleyball team. His team finished ninth place at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and eleventh at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.[2]

Early life

Lambert went to Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii along with Stein Metzger.[3] His subsequent partnership with Metzger in the AVP resulted in nine titles.[1]

College

Lambert played volleyball at Stanford University. He and fellow AVP player Matt Fuerbringer were members of the 1997 NCAA Championship team for volleyball.[4] He was the Most Outstanding Player of the 1997 NCAA Championship tournament.[5] He was also a three-time All-American.[4] Lambert graduated from Stanford in 1997 with a degree in political science.[4]

Beach volleyball

In 2004, Lambert was selected as the AVP Most Valuable Player, the AVP Best Offensive Player, and part of the AVP Team of the Year with partner Karch Kiraly.[1] In his career, Lambert won 16 tournaments and $520,000 in prizes playing beach volleyball.[1]

In 2018, Lambert was inducted to the California Beach Volleyball Hall of Fame.[6]
