Removed "flying start teachers" as an example of someone who may go on a "drink run". It's too obscure and too specific to be a proper example.

First, not everyone drinks [[coffee]]. Reasons for not drinking coffee range from health concerns to religious. Regardless of the reason, a drink run refers to the phenomena itself and makes no distinction regarding the beverage that is consumed. In fact, it is likely that each member of the group chooses something different. Typical beverages for a drink run include [[soft drinks]], [[sports drinks]], [[energy drinks]], [[beer]], coffee, or just plain [[water]].

Second, a drink run typically occurs spontaneously whereas a coffee break typically occurs with a scheduled frequency. For instance, a group of workers take a coffee break each morning at 10:00 when the whistle blows.

Finally, a drink run involves a departure from the present locale whereas a coffee break typically occurs within close proximity.

One of the reasons influencing these differences is the circumstances or professions of the individuals involved. For example, students and engineers typically have schedules that are more flexible. This flexibility allows them to be more spontaneous and to enjoy more downtime. Hence, they are willing to travel greater distances in the procurement of beverages.
