In regards to your question, that picture was deleted because it did not have a copyright tag on it. For an image to be used here, of course anyone viewing the image has to know what the copyright status is on it, whether it's [[Template:PD]], [[Template:Non-free television screenshot]], or otherwise. These tags are representation of where we can use said images, so they are vital, and images lacking them are deleted. With the way our image policies are, that's what I have to do. Thanks for your help and courtesy, Wizardman. So if I add {{PD-US}} and upload it again will that be OK? Thanks[[User:Foofbun|Foofbun]] 07:04, 9 September 2007 (UTC) |

Also, I've noticed that the still in 'Red Nightmare' has been removed. As it is 1) prior to 1978, and 2) the film was initially made for, commissioned by, and shown by the US Government I believe it is exempt from copyright; can it be restored please? ==Question on image to Carnildo== |
{{help me]] |
Hi Carnildo, |
== ''The Bugle'': Issue 207, July 2023 == |
I've a question on the deletion of the image Bondthrillers. jpg from 'The James Bond Theme' article in Wik. My reasons for believing it no longer copyrighted, are 1)pre 1978, 1965 actually 2)the record company is no longer in business 3)there are no stills from any film or any actors appearing in the picture; the characters in the picture are models. I believe the image is attractive and well suits the theme of 'covers'. |
{| style="width: 100%;" |
Otherwise do you know how I could trace the copyright on a record cover that doesn't feature performing artists from a record company that is now defunct (through conglomerations and take overs)? |

Hi. I reverted this, partly because it was a [[Help:Self link|self link]] and partly because it is such an uncommon word (outside of Australia and New Zealand, that is) that it merits an explanatory sentence of its own. Something along the line of ''“In Australia and New Zealand'' [or wherever the term applies] '' these are a feature of...'' [perhaps naming communities that have them] ''where they are known as ‘theatrettes’ ” '' . You could give a reference from ''The Australian Oxford Dictionary'', ISBN 0195517962. '''Next''' ... you wrote at [[Talk:Waltzing Matilda#Waltzing Matilda and the 1st Marine Division]]: ''As a former Marine of the 1st Mar Div and an Australian I challenge the statement that 'Waltzing Matilda' is an official march of the Division. As a participant in many Division parades I have never, ever heard the tune played.'' |
{| style="width: 100%;" |
*I have tagged for a citation. A possible source is http://www.anu.edu.au/people/Roger.Clarke/WM/ which has been cited elsewhere in the article. Note that this is not an endorsed ANU page but a personal page of a member of staff (''These community service pages are a joint offering of the Australian National University (which provides the infrastructure), and Roger Clarke (who provides the content).'' + ''Visiting Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology'' which probably does not make him an academic on this subject). |
| valign="top" style="border: 1px gray solid; padding: 1em;" | |
:Clarke states: <blockquote>I understand that the tune (without the words) is the marching song of the U.S. 1st Marine Division. In 2003, Col Pat Garrett USMC confirmed that it was/is played every morning immediately after The Marines Hymn ('From the Halls of Montezuma . . .') following the raising of the National colo(u)rs at 0800, and at Divisional parades. Further, "The Division was raised at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in early 1941, and became associated with Waltzing Matilda when the Marines came to Melbourne in early 1943 for rest and refit following the successful retaking of Guadalcanal, and before it returned to combat at Cape Gloucester in New Britain in the Northern Solomons in September of that year"</blockquote> |

** The news story on the 65th anniversary sounded reasonably official. Unfortuantely the websites supporting the Marines - ie.mil - were down this morning and I couldn't check any of the links from pages put up by Marines. That would be my preference too for a citation to support the claim. Regards --[[User:Matilda|Matilda]] [[User_talk:Matilda|talk]] 06:06, 14 February 2008 (UTC) |

***I am still <small>(last two days)</small> having trouble accessing any of the dot mil web pages. [http://www.google.com.au/search?q=marines+%22waltzing+matilda%22+.mil This Google search] shows several Marines web sites supporting the assertion. The best I can do at this stage is view the Google cached versions. For example [http://209.85.175.104/search?q=cache:9dkPfw7cRa0J:www.i-mef.usmc.mil/msc/1MARDIV/band/WMHistory.htm+marines+%22waltzing+matilda%22+.mil&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=au&client=firefox-a cached version of 1st Marine Division Band: History of Waltzing Matilda at http://www.i-mef.usmc.mil/msc/1MARDIV/band/WMHistory.htm] states: <blockquote>During the Second World War, the 1st Marine Division maintained a training base in Australia preparing for the island hopping campaigns. The Marines adopted the unofficial Australian National Anthem, Waltzing Matilda, as their own. Today, Waltzing Matilda is recognized as the official song of the 1st Marine Division, and is played at ceremonies and other military functions to honor those who have served in the Division.</blockquote> Regards --[[User:Matilda|Matilda]] [[User_talk:Matilda|talk]] 20:55, 14 February 2008 (UTC) |

Please remember that when the article title includes an identifier, such as ''[[Tightrope (TV series)]]'', you can and should use the pipe symbol "|" just before the closing "]]" of the link. This will automatically convert the link so that although it still ''points to'' "Tightrope (TV series)", it appears to a reader as just "Tightrope". Remember, we want to show the reader the actual name of the show, not the name that Wikipedia picked for the article on that show. (The exceptions, of course, are Wikipedia's disambiguation pages, where we ''are'' trying to identify which of multiple Wikipedia articles with similar titles is the one the reader actually wants.) |

==Notability of [[:Chesterfield Pictures]]== |
[[Image:Nuvola apps important.svg|left|48px|]]<!-- use [[Image:Nuvola apps important yellow.svg|left|48px|]] for YELLOW flag --> A tag has been placed on [[:Chesterfield Pictures]] requesting that it be [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|speedily deleted]] from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, ''etc''.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the [[WP:CSD#Articles|criteria for speedy deletion]], articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please [[Wikipedia:Notability|see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable]]. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the [[WP:Your first article|guide to writing your first article]]. |
{| style="width: 100%;" |
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding <code>{{tl|hangon}}</code> to the top of the article ('''just below''' the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on '''[[Talk:Chesterfield Pictures|the article's talk page]]''' explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for ''speedy'' deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines. |

[[Image:Information_icon.svg|left]]Hello, this is a message from [[User:CSDWarnBot|an automated bot]]. A tag has been placed on [[:Charles F. Blair Jr]], by {{#ifeq:{{{nom}}}|1|[[User:{{{nominator}}}|{{{nominator}}}]] ([[User talk:{{{nominator}}}|talk]] '''·''' [[Special:Contributions/{{{nominator}}}|contribs]]),}} another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be [[Wikipedia:Speedy deletions|speedily deleted]] from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because [[:Charles F. Blair Jr]] seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the [[WP:CSD#Articles|criteria for speedy deletion]], articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please [[Wikipedia:Notability|see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable]]. <br><br>To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting [[:Charles F. Blair Jr]], please affix the template <nowiki>{{hangon}}</nowiki> to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at [[WP:WMD]]. Feel free to contact the [[User:CSDWarnBot|bot operator]] if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that '''this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [[File:Ambox warning pn.svg|48px|left|alt=|link=]] |

A tag has been placed on [[:Sound stag]] requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under [[WP:CSD#R3|section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion]], because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term. |
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by [[:Sound stag|visiting the page]] and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with [[Wikipedia:List of policies|Wikipedia's policies and guidelines]]. <!-- Template:Db-redirtypo-notice --><!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> [[User:Ibadibam|Ibadibam]] ([[User talk:Ibadibam|talk]]) 16:34, 17 October 2024 (UTC) |

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:40, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Sound stag
[edit]A tag has been placed on Sound stag requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
