:You will notice that the c governing o refers to a member of the board while a c governance o is a member of management. Since their duties, seniority and authority are completely different I think a separate page is warranted. Besides while the title of the original article was c governance o the content only decribed the role of a c governing officer. --Suidafrikaan (talk) 09:30, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Edit summaries
Hi, I have previously informed you of the guidelines regarding "edit summaries", but you are still making numerous edits without edit summaries. Please read Help:Edit summary for further information. Furthermore, it is a little disruptive to make a large number of small edits (all without edit summaries), because it clutters the pages history. If you look at the page history of Third force (South Africa) for instance (here), you will see how the edit history quickly becomes cluttered. Please use the preview feature and try to group a few small edits together (see Help:Show preview). --Deon Steyn 05:45, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

: At first glance, I quite like the new apartheid infbox. Thanks for adding it to the various articles. However, I concur with Deon about edit summaries. Reviewing my watchlist today, there are lots and lots of edits by you, and it would have been really useful if each one had a summary "add infobox". Just a courtesy to other editors reviewing changes to articles on their watchlist. Thanks, Zaian 09:56, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Template:Apartheid
How about adding an optional image to the template? It might improve the layout, e.g. on Sharpeville massacre, if the image could become part of the template. No, I haven't a clue how to add an image to a template... Zaian 15:26, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

:Nice template! The two categories of people (for and against) might be a little problematic, because it could grow quite large and it might be difficult to choose only a few. I'll add some more thoughts to the template's discussion pages. --Deon Steyn 06:53, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Jeugkrag
Dear Suidafrikaan,

I object to the way in which you link me with the fact that Marthinus van Schalkwyk has accepted money for himself and for Jeugkrag from Military Intelligence (MI). I found out, like the rest of the public, that Marthinus accepted funds from MI, and I wrote to him at the time expressing my utter disgust at his betrayal, because he has brought the organization, and all associated with it - as your wikipedia post proves - in disrepute.

It is unfair, however, to assume, as you have done in this post, that others associated with Jeugkrag at the time, had knowledge of, or were somehow associated with MI. I was one of the founding members of Jeugkrag and our aim was to establish an alternative movement (as oposed to the Afrikaans Student Union - ASB) for Afrikaans students that was oposed to apartheid and that actively work for creating an alternative democratic future. I contributed to drafting our founding principles and it was revolutionary at the time in that we rejected apartheid and promoted a true (one man one vote) democratic future. I was a member of the Student Representative Counci at Rand Afrikaans University at the time and my personal left of centre politics was well known. I was the first Publicity Secretary and later the Director of Fundraising of Jeugkrag. During that time I raised funds from several corperate and private foundations. Amongst others we did things like arrange school and student camps where we brought youths from all races together to start a national dialogue about our future together. I had no knowledge of any links to the South African Government, especially not MI, and there was nothing in the policies or work of Jeugkrag that I had knowledge of, even with hindsight, that could have served the interests of the apartheid government.

I moved on from student politics (and Jeugkrag) and joined the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Aug 1988, and in 1989 and half of 1990 I did my compulsory national service. I spent the first year at the intelligence school in Potch, where I did an officer's course and qualified as a 2nd lieutenant. As I am sure you are aware we did not choose where we went for our national service. In 1990 I spent a further six months at MI, before I returned to DFA in July 1990. In early 1990, I was promoted to 1st lieutenant, as was the practise for all graduates. My national service, like I am sure for most of us, were the most uneventful and unproductive time of my life. This is especially true for my time at MI where I mostly spent my time playing chess. Contraty to your insuniation, I think my politics saved me from becoming involved in anything sinister. There was no link between my involvement with Jeugkrag and my national service.

I regret, but accept that because Marthinus accepted funds from MI for himself and for Jeugkrag, that the whole organisation and what it has achieved, is now discredited. However, there were many ordinary people involved in Jeugkrag who genuinly used it as a vehicle to mobilize against apartheid within the Afrikaner community, and I believed Jeugkrag played a role by sending a message to the Afrikaner elite that a significant portion of the Afrikaner student leadership rejected apartheid and chose a democratic future. If MI funds were used in this process then I, for one, enjoy the irony that they contributed funds to an organization that contributed to their own downfall.

I would thus appreciate it if you would remove any suggestions that I knew about MI funding for Jeugkrag, or that such funding is somehow linked to my national service. If you disagree with my explanation, then I would appreciate it if my version could be posted alongside yours.

Best wishes

Cedric de Coning

Van Schalkwyk was the national chairman. He was supported between 1987 and July 1988 by Cedric de Coning who was both Director of Fund Raising, and Publicity Secretary. According to de Coning's January 2007 resume, besides fund raising his role was to liaise with "international and national donor organisations". Following a 6 month break de Coning went on to become a 1st lieutenant at the Military Intelligence Headquarters of the South African Defence Force.[4]

:::::::My comments were contrary to wikipedia guidelines, acknowledged. Of course there are other ways to deal with things. However, I'm not willing to work anything out. I have simple expectations: I don't want to see another post by Mr. Steyn on my talk page, under any circumstances, on any subject, at any time in the future. I also expect him to refrain from editing my contributions - we are not joined at the hip. There are dozens of others who can, and who will comment if there is content that is out of line.
::::::::Sigh. It's your call how you react to things, but I don't think much of those conditions. Contributions are fair game for anyone to edit - on the bottom of the screen it says "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it." And since this is a collaborative project, working for consensus with people you disagree with is a pretty central skill. But I'm preaching, and as I said, it's your call. I'm out of this particular discussion now. Zaian 14:36, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
:::::::::Merciless editing is not the point. Choosing to edit all/most contributions made by one person, all/most of the time can be construed as a deliberate effort to ride them out of town. A comparison: In SA, constructive dismissal - unbearable workplace harassment that leads to retreat and resignation - is considered an unfair labour practice. Same behaviour different context.
:::::::::: OK, last comment (really). I haven't tracked Deon's edits in any detail, but I have seen how many of your edits have popped up on my watchlist. Your edits are often not uncontroversial - you and I have disagreed on several points so far, and I have undone some of your edits. I assume Deon is doing something similar, and has clearly annoyed you significantly in the process, so maybe he has gone overboard. I commented on two minor points on Deon's talk page already. Anyhow. There aren't dozens of South African editors waiting to join the debate - there are sadly very few of us (Deon is one of the prominent ones), so we can't afford to drive each other away. I hope we will continue to work together, and I hope you can avoid further confrontation with Deon. Zaian 15:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Jeugkrag
Dear Suidafrikaan,

The only factual error was the reference to me becoming an officer in MI 6 months after I left Jeugkrag. I started my compulsory national service in the SA Army Intelligence School in January 1989 with basic training and then did an officer's course. I became a 2nd lieutenant, as was the practise at the time, at the end of 1989, and was then posted to MI. After a month or two I was then promoted to 1st lieutenant, because I was a graduate, as was the practise at the time. In my CV the process is listed in the detail, and the highest rank/position achieved is listed in the heading.

By wrongfuly stating that I joined MI as a 1st lieutenant 6 months after I left Jeugkrag you create the impression that I did not follow the routine national service process, and the obvious conclusion is then that I was somehow associated with MI whilst I was at Jeugkrag.

I am satisfied with the way in which the matter has now been dealt with after the '6 month' sentence was removed.

Cedric

Apartheid redirect
Hi Suidafrikaan, you weren't to know, but the redirect from Apartheid to History of South Africa in the apartheid era has been bitterly disputed on many occasions in the past (see for example Talk:Apartheid (disambiguation) and Talk:Allegations of Israeli apartheid and its many archives). This eventually went to Wikipedia arbitration and the status quo is the result of that arbitration. There may be merits in different arrangements of page titles and redirects, but any change here ignores the arbitration that took place, and risks reigniting the disputes. Any change therefore needs to be discussed first and approached with care. I have thus reverted your new change, with no disrespect intended to your contribution. Zaian 09:45, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree
Hi Suidafrikaan, I think your new arrangement on :Template:Apartheid with a single heading "People" is a good solution, as it avoids the pitfalls of subjective decisions where the categorisation isn't straightforward.

Regarding categories, I think once an article has been added to (e.g.) :Category:Events associated with apartheid it can be removed from the parent :Category:Apartheid.

Under organisations associated with apartheid, I think the category name is slightly ambiguous in that it could be taken to mean organisations supportive of apartheid. I can't think of a better name though. This could be clarified by a descriptive sentence on the category page. I'm also wondering about having the newspapers (Citizen, M&G, Vrye Weekblad) under an apartheid category. Might be simpler not to include them as it's not a defining category for them (unlike, say, for a political party). Zaian 13:52, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

:Newspapers. It depends on how one reads the word "associated", which could mean: a) is only related to, b) can be related to. Assuming the latter: M&G was established solely because the Rand Daily Mail was put out of business by the SA government for its anti-apartheid views. The Citizen was created by Eschel Rhoodie's Dept of Information (using illicit govt funds) solely to sell pro-apartheid ideas to the South African public in opposition to the Rand Daily Mail, both were morning publications. The tone of VW was exclusively anti-apartheid and its demise related entirely to apartheid. While newspapers like The Star and Die Burger, etc published during the apartheid years strictly speaking they are not related to apartheid because they were instituted long before Smuts used the word, and prior to 1948.Suidafrikaan 15:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Brightblue weeping.jpg
Thank you for uploading :Image:Brightblue weeping.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. ==Fair use rationale for :Image:Tananas joburg.jpg==
Thanks for uploading or contributing to :Image:Tananas joburg.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. ==Speedy deletion nomination of :Cezanne Visser==
A tag has been placed on :Cezanne Visser requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding <code>hangon</code> to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. <!-- Template:Db-bio-notice --><!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> <font face="Comic Sans MS" size="2" color="navy">Lunagron</font> <font face="Comic Sans MS" size="2" color="teal">(Talk)</font>&nbsp; 17:37, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of :Chief governing officer, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: :Chief governance officer. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page&mdash; you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article.<!--This template located at Template:Csb-notice-wikipage--> CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:21, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

November 2010
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give :Chief governance officer a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. == Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference ==

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was <code>true</code>. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to <code>false</code> in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:01, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

;<big>New roles and guides!</big>
At Wikimania there were so many enthusiastic people jumping at the chance to help out the Medical Translation Project, but unfortunately not all of them knew how to get started. That is why we've been spending considerable time writing and improving guides! They are finally live, and you can find them at our home-page!
;<big>New sign up page!</big>
We're proud to announce a new sign up page at WP:MTSIGNUP! The old page was getting cluttered and didn't allow you to speficy a role. The new page should be easier to sign up to, and easier to navigate so that we can reach you when you're needed!
;Style guides for translations
Translations are of both full articles and shorter articles continues. The process where short articles are chosen for translation hasn't been fully transparent. In the coming months we hope to have a first guide, so that anyone who writes medical or health articles knows how to get their articles to a standard where they can be translated! That's why we're currently working on medical good lede criteria! The idea is to have a similar peer review process to good article nominations, but only for ledes.
;Some more stats
*In July, 18 full article translations went live (<small>WP:RTT</small>), and an additional 6 simplified versions went live (<small>WP:RTTS</small>)!
*We have a number of new lead integrators into Dutch, Polish, Arabic and Bulgarian, with more to come in smaller languages! (<small>Find them here old sign up page</small>)
*We were mentioned in a Global Voices Online report by Subhashish Panigrahi at Doctors and translators are working together to bridge Wikipedia's medical language gap

The article :Sunday night blues has been proposed for deletion&#32;because of the following concern:
<blockquote>This "condition" is neither present in the ICD-10 or DSM V. PubMed does not list any primary literature about this topic. There are news articles about this, however most of them seem to be editorialized and not original research per se.</blockquote>

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. - Dakota ? e 09:21, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You will notice that the c governing o refers to a member of the board while a c governance o is a member of management. Since their duties, seniority and authority are completely different I think a separate page is warranted. Besides while the title of the original article was c governance o the content only decribed the role of a c governing officer. --Suidafrikaan (talk) 09:30, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you create the category Category:Classification Systems. The S in systems should be written in lowecase per WP:MOS. I tagged the category, the articles should be moved within an hour or so. Cheers, —Ruud 12:32, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When I said should be moved within an hour or so, I meant that a robot (User:NekoDeamon) should automatically move those articles but I now realise that A) this bot doesn't work anymore and B) you could misinterpret it as that you should move them within an hour. Sorry, —Ruud 19:06, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Psychology Wiki

[edit]
The Logo for the Psychology Wiki.

Hi Suidafrikaan,

I noticed that you used to be a lecturer and clinical psychologist, and thought you might be interested in this project which I am involved in, The Psychology Wiki.

I won't say too much, as I'd like you to judge it for yourself, but you should find that it is different from Wikipedia, because approximately 90% of our contributors so far are professional psychologists, academics, or students and trainees.

Its hosted by a company called Wikia, which was founded by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley. There are Google Ads on the site, but we dont make money from the project, they're just to pay for the bandwidth, storage and technical support that Wikia give us.

Have a look and see what you think

I congratulate you on your Civil Cooperation Bureau creation: it is so well researched and sourced. I thought of creating such an article several years ago but it would have paled into insignificance compared to what you have produced: well done!

I note that you do not accept Craig Williamson was a CCB member. What about Peter Caselton (who was involved with the Swede Bertil Wedin in a number of CCB-type escapades) and who was killed under the wheels of a truck, after naming the killer of Swedish PM Olof Palme. Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi, I have previously informed you of the guidelines regarding "edit summaries", but you are still making numerous edits without edit summaries. Please read Help:Edit summary for further information. Furthermore, it is a little disruptive to make a large number of small edits (all without edit summaries), because it clutters the pages history. If you look at the page history of Third force (South Africa) for instance (here), you will see how the edit history quickly becomes cluttered. Please use the preview feature and try to group a few small edits together (see Help:Show preview). --Deon Steyn 05:45, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At first glance, I quite like the new apartheid infbox. Thanks, Zaian 09:56, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Apartheid

[edit]

How about adding an optional image to the template? It might improve the layout, e.g. on Sharpeville massacre, if the image could become part of the template. No, I haven't a clue how to add an image to a template... Zaian 15:26, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nice template! The two categories of people (for and against) might be a little problematic, because it could grow quite large and it might be difficult to choose only a few. I'll add some more thoughts to the template's discussion pages. --Deon Steyn 06:53, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jeugkrag

[edit]

Best wishes

Cedric de Coning cedricdc@yahoo.com

Thank you for your note. The section to which you object is reproduced below.

1) The section cites the following facts contained in your CV

    • Your name and surname
    • Your Jeugkrag designations
    • The period in which you held these designations
    • A description of your liaison activities as contained in your CV
    • The 6 month break between your Jeugkrag involvement and your military service
    • Your SADF rank
    • The unit in which you served

2) It references your CV and provides a hyperlink to the document which is now only available in the Google cache

"Minor" edits

[edit]

Please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you.

Addition of a controversial category (such Category:Supporters of apartheid) does not qualify as minor. Almost all your edits are incorrectly marked as "minor", please see the guidelines in the accompanying warning template. --Deon Steyn 09:47, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I appreciate both your interventionsSuidafrikaan 11:47, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you could withdraw the above heated comments directed at Deon. They're out of line, even if you are annoyed at his interactions with you. Zaian 13:45, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your facilitation. I have removed them. Suidafrikaan 13:59, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'm glad you're willing to work it out. Zaian 14:03, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My comments were contrary to wikipedia guidelines, acknowledged.
Sigh. Zaian 14:36, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Merciless editing is not the point.
OK, last comment (really). Zaian 15:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hope Suidafrikaan will keep on keeping on. He's doing a brilliant job for Wikipedia, and for the truth!Phase4 20:37, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jeugkrag

[edit]

Apartheid redirect

[edit]

Zaian 09:45, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree

[edit]

Hi Suidafrikaan, I think your new arrangement on Template:Apartheid with a single heading "People" is a good solution, as it avoids the pitfalls of subjective decisions where the categorisation isn't straightforward.

Regarding categories, I think once an article has been added to (e.g.) Category:Events associated with apartheid it can be removed from the parent Category:Apartheid.

Zaian 13:52, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Newspapers. While newspapers like The Star and Die Burger, etc published during the apartheid years strictly speaking they are not related to apartheid because they were instituted long before Smuts used the word, and prior to 1948.Suidafrikaan 15:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Roodt notability

[edit]

Notability of Dan Roodt

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Dan Roodt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Cricketgirl 13:09, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Claire johnston.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Claire johnston.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Brightblue weeping.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Brightblue weeping.jpg.

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:58, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Tananas joburg.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Tananas joburg.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

A tag has been placed on Cezanne Visser requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Chief governing officer, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Chief governance officer. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:21, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Chief governance officer a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name.

Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:01, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.

  • Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
  • Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
  • If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Feature – Ebola articles

[edit]
Electron micrograph of an Ebola virus virion

During August we have translated Disease and it is now live in more than 60 different languages! To help us focus on African languages Rubric has donated a large number of articles in languages we haven't previously reached–so a shout out them, and Ian Henderson from Rubric who's joined us here at Wikipedia. We're very happy for our continued collaboration with both Rubric and Translators without Borders!

Just some of our over 60 translations:
New roles and guides!

At Wikimania there were so many enthusiastic people jumping at the chance to help out the Medical Translation Project, but unfortunately not all of them knew how to get started. That is why we've been spending considerable time writing and improving guides! They are finally live, and you can find them at our home-page!

New sign up page!

We're proud to announce a new sign up page at WP:MTSIGNUP! The old page was getting cluttered and didn't allow you to speficy a role. The new page should be easier to sign up to, and easier to navigate so that we can reach you when you're needed!

Style guides for translations

Translations are of both full articles and shorter articles continues. The process where short articles are chosen for translation hasn't been fully transparent. In the coming months we hope to have a first guide, so that anyone who writes medical or health articles knows how to get their articles to a standard where they can be translated! That's why we're currently working on medical good lede criteria! The idea is to have a similar peer review process to good article nominations, but only for ledes.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. Article "Sunday night blues"

[edit]
Notice

The article Sunday night blues has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This "condition" is neither present in the ICD-10 or DSM V. PubMed does not list any primary literature about this topic. There are news articles about this, however most of them seem to be editorialized and not original research per se.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 134.60.55.125 (talk) 07:24, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
