Sohbatpur had a sex ratio of 946 females per 1,000 males and a literacy rate of 33.15% (47.65% for males and 18.07% for females). 12,867 (6.42%) inhabitants lived in urban areas. 78,795 (39.31%) were under 10 years of age.
