== History ==
The Tehsil was area of Pacchada Dielect [[Punjabi language|Punjabi]] speakers mainly of Johiya Clan and [[Bagri language|bagri]] speakers of Punia, Saharan etc bagri speakers the area came under Bikaner riyasat when Diwan Hindumal included the area of the Ganganagar District in [[Bikaner State|Bikaner Riyasat]]. in 1920's raja Ganga Singh of Bikaner was constructing Gang canal but the project was too expensive and the state though big in size had barren land, less population and less businesses for generating revenue raja had to take Loan from Prosperous [[Patiala State|Patiala Riyasat]] of Punjab. at first raja tried to settle locals but it was not successful as they had no experience of farming with Wells and canals like the Prosperous Punjab Plains . So raja visited [[Punjab]] and appealed to the Farmers and Landlords of Punjab mainly [[Jat Sikh|Jatt Sikhs]] to purchase Land and develop the area to generate Revenue in the Modern day [[Sri Ganganagar district|Ganganagar District]] so then most of them came to settle in Padampur tehsil.

The Majority of Clans Related to landlords in the Tehsil among [[Jat Sikh|Jatts]] are Sandhu, Kahlon, Bains, Sidhu, Johal, Sidhubrar, Bhangu, Mangat, Sial, Dhillon, Dhaliwal, Tiwana, Kooner, Sunner, Kaler Gill, Kharal, Shergill, etc. as well among Bagris are Punia, Jakhar, Saharan, Datarwal, Siggar etc

The area of Padampur tehsil is 857 Square km. the tehsil's soil is of sandy Alluvial Soil the tehsil is situated in the Northern Rajasthan.

Padampur tehsil is one of the Ten tehsils of the Ganganagar district in the north western Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located in the northern area of the district. The city of Padampur is the headquarters of the tehsil. Its north border touches Ganganagar tehsil. It has borders in the east with Sadulshahar Tehsil and with Hanumangarh district. The south-east border is with Suratgarh tehsil, the west by Raisinghnagar tehsil and north-west with Karanpur tehsil. The Village Delwan lies 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) to the north-west.

The waters of the Ganges Canal irrigate the farms of this tehsil. Punjabi and Bagri (a dialect of the Rajasthani language) are spoken. Padampur, Gajsinghpur, Binjhbayla, Fakirwali and Ridmalsar are the main towns and the Village Delwan of the tehsil. Binjhbayla is a Sub Tehsil in Padampur
