Joseph Russell Palmore is an American lawyer who is a nominee to serve as a judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Education
[edit]Palmore received a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Harvard University in 1991 and a Juris Doctor and Master of Arts from the University of Virginia in 1998.[1]
Career
[edit]Palmore served as a law clerk to several judges, specifically Judge Dennis Jacobs of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1998 to 1999, Judge John Gleeson of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York from 1999 to 2000 and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court from 2001 to 2002. From 2002 to 2005, worked as an associate at Sidley Austin. From 2005 to 2006, he served as special counsel at the Federal Communications Commission and from 2007 to 2009 as deputy general counsel. Oberly, who retired on November 1, 2013.[4] On July 25, 2024, a hearing on his nomination was held before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.[5] On July 31, 2024, his nomination was reported out of the committee by an 8–3 vote.[6] His nomination is pending before the United States Senate.
