On 30 November 2023, he was appointed as the interim manager of Lyon after Fabio Grosso was sacked.[6] On 11 January 2024, he was confirmed as manager of Lyon until the end of the season, where they qualified for the UEFA Europa League.[7][8] Later that year, on 3 July, he signed a new contract with Lyon until 2026.[9]
