The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey. |

== Question from Lategreatanddead (14:18, 1 December 2024) == |
|||
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate. |
|||
Why are so rude? And unhelpful? That is my question to you as my supposed 'mentor'. |
|||
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement . |
|||
Instead of taking a moment to engage constructively, you slapped a warning on my article. That’s a pretty rude way to treat something I spent weeks researching, fact-checking, and writing. Sure, I use tools to help with grammar—like a calculator for words—because I’m a bit dyslexic, but the content, effort, and historical understanding are entirely mine. |
|||
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns. |
|||
If you have doubts, you’re welcome to check the references yourself. If something isn’t accessible online, I’ll gladly provide photos of each and every page to back it up. I’d suggest that next time, a conversation might work better than assumptions and warnings. Let me know if you’d like to address any specifics—I’m happy to discuss. Otherwise, I’d suggest rethinking how you handle contributors who are genuinely trying to add value. --Lategreatanddead (talk) 14:18, 1 December 2024 (UTC) |

Kind Regards, |
|||
:@Lategreatanddead: Sorry about that, I didn't realize you were struggling with such issues. I will remove the AI-generated on the article. Also, I am relatively new to mentoring, so I may make mistakes (such as this one). Also, please do not remove others' comments on talk pages as it is considered bad practice. Reply to the reply instead. --Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 04:36, 2 December 2024 (UTC) |

::How many references do I need per sentence? |

::I’m stuck here because there’s not much on the Border Reivers after the Scottish Wars of Independence until Flodden, really. Feels like that period’s a bit of a void—hardly anything to work with. But now I’m literally surrounded by books on the post-Flodden period—the so-called ‘Heyday of the Reivers.’ |

:::@Lategreatanddead: Generally, you need at least one reference per paragraph. Controversial facts are usually discussed on the article's talk page before addition to avoid conflicts. Since you have several book sources, you can use Cite book with the book's ISBN. Hi, Leonid. I see you've been tagging some old userpages by known or suspected m:NTSAMR spambots for deletion. I've deleted several under CSD G5, and Espresso Addict has deleted some under U5, but, might I suggest that it doesn't really matter? On the one hand, it takes up admin time to assess whether a page actually is speedyable—and it wasn't obvious to me at first till I started going through the category, and even then I found one that I couldn't be sure was G5able beyond a reasonable doubt—while it doesn't really do anything to prevent spam, since the userpages themselves (at least the ones you've been tagging) do not contain spam links. If there's a BLP concern about people's names appearing on these pages, it should be fine to just remove a name or even blank the page entirely. But deleting them all may amount to something of a timesink. See also WP:RAGPICKING—written about MfD, but somewhat applicable here. <span style="font-family:courier"> -- <span style="color:#E6007A">Tamzin</span></span>[<i style="color:#E6007A">cetacean needed</i>] <small>(they|xe|🤷)</small> 17:30, 6 December 2024 (UTC) |

Hello, I am trying to update some of the inaccuracies currently on The Toro Company's page. After reading that it is advised to publish your suggested changes on the page's Talk page first, I did so last week. Is there a different approach that I should be taking in updating the page so there are no inaccuracies? We receive a lot of questions on this page given the content is outdated. == Request for Feedback on Including HISTOLIX Tool as an External Tool and Resource == |
|||
Hello @Leonidlednev, |
|||
I’m currently working on the draft article Draft:Hypertext escape sequences, and I’d like feedback on including the website [HISTOLIX](https://histolix.site) as an external resource source Tool section to my artical. The site provides a tool for encoding HTML escape sequences, which I believe could be useful for readers interested in learning about or working with HTML escape sequences, as it provides a practical, easy-to-use resource. |
|||
Before proceeding with any edits, I’d like to know if this link meets Wikipedia’s guidelines for external resources. Is this tool considered appropriate for inclusion, or are there any concerns about its relevance or reliability? |
|||
Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |

Question from Lategreatanddead (14:18, 1 December 2024)
Why are so rude? And unhelpful? That is my question to you as my supposed 'mentor'.
--Lategreatanddead (talk) 14:18, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Lategreatanddead: Sorry about that, I didn't realize you were struggling with such issues. I will remove the AI-generated on the article. Also, I am relatively new to mentoring, so I may make mistakes (such as this one). Also, please do not remove others' comments on talk pages as it is considered bad practice. Reply to the reply instead. --Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 04:36, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks hugely.
- How many references do I need per sentence?
- I’m stuck here because there’s not much on the Border Reivers after the Scottish Wars of Independence until Flodden, really. Feels like that period’s a bit of a void—hardly anything to work with. But now I’m literally surrounded by books on the post-Flodden period—the so-called ‘Heyday of the Reivers.’
- It’s like there’s too much suddenly, and I don’t want to overdo the references. How much is too much? Feels like every sentence or even word could have a citation, but I don’t want it to look like a uni essay again. Lategreatanddead (talk) 10:09, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Lategreatanddead: Generally, you need at least one reference per paragraph. Controversial facts are usually discussed on the article's talk page before addition to avoid conflicts. Since you have several book sources, you can use Cite book with the book's ISBN. For additional help on referencing, see H:REF. --Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 14:52, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
Tagging old NTSAMR userpages
-- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 17:30, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
Why did you remove my edit?

Question from Bearsanstea (04:05, 11 December 2024)
Hello! How can I get involved in editing? I love software and software engineering, so that might be a good place to start. 😊
Have a great day. --Bearsanstea (talk) 04:05, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Bearsanstea: Sorry for not replying for so long, but you can start out with minor fixes such as typos (no sources necessary), updating outdated information ( cite where you got the new data from), or reverting vandalism (open the vandal's edit, and click undo) Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 01:49, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Sammarsh1 (23:19, 13 December 2024)
Hello how are you? I was wondering how I can submit an article for review? It's currently in my sandbox. Thanks. --Sammarsh1 (talk) 23:19, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Sammarsh1: Add User sandbox to the top of your sandbox, and click the "Submit your draft for review" button. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 04:18, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Digital Builder Marketing Service (07:18, 20 December 2024)
hello, How do i get Backlinks for my website : https://techgear.in.net/ --Digital Builder Marketing Service (talk) 07:18, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @User:Digital Builder Marketing Service: You don't. See WP:SOAP and WP:SEO. Also consider changing your username, as it goes against WP:CORPNAME. Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 07:22, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
