General Quintus is a fictional character in the 2000 film Gladiator.

We first meet Quintus ( Actor Tomas Arana: www.tomasarana.com) as the tribune to Maximus, his second in command. Quintus is portrayed as a tired and weary stoic commander but at the same time a very dilligent soldier, as seen during the film's opening battle. Although Quintus and Maximus are portrayed as friends in the opening scenes, he chooses to stoicly remain silent when Maximus is sentenced to his death by Commodus, but he also declines to inform his new Emperor of Maximus' escape. Upon his return to Rome Commodus elevates Quintus to Praetorian Prefectus, in charge of the Praetorian Guard. The Praetorian Guard protected the Emperor and were the only people allowed to carry arms in Rome. In the final scenes during the duel between Maximus and Commodus, the latter looses his sword and asks Quintus for his, he refuses and orders the other Praetorians to do the same. This act ultimately leads to the death of Commodus. Upon the death of Maximus, Quintus helps carry Maximus in procession from the arena.
