#REDIRECT The City of Ember#Characters

Doon Harrow, also known as Pheter Kamikwazee, is one of the two main characters in Jeanne DuPrau's Ember books except one: The Prophet of Yonwoo.

Background
He was originally assigned the fast-paced messenger job when he was twelve, which he switched with Lina Mayfleet for Pipeworks laborer because he thought he could save the dying city by fixing the Generator. He learned later that this was pointless because no one knew how it worked. He was a helper in decoding the Instructions for Egress (escape), and was, with Lina and her sister, Poppy, one of the first people to leave. In The People of Sparks, he is a helper of Tick Hassler, who was a worker in Ember. Doon finds out Tick wants war and has done terrible things to the Emberites.

Personality
Doon is known to anger quickly and has had trouble with his temper before. Doon's father, Mr. Harrow, tells him to think about his actions, and warns him that anger creates many accidents. He also seems to be a very kind, steady person, and very thoughtful. In many incidents in the novel, he cannot make his mind up about a situation, because he looks at it from too many different angles, so that no one's feelings get hurt. Doon is also very mechanically minded and was the first person to rediscover electricity. Doon is known to collect bugs and examine them with a microscope that his dear friend Lina Mayfleet gave to him. He is also a very courageous person, and he demonstrates it when he saves Torren from a burning tree in The People of Sparks.
