I'm quite busy at the moment, but after October I hope to have more free time to spend writing articles. |

I'd been reading Wikipedia for a while, and started to make the occasional edit when I thought I had something to contribute. So I thought I might as well have a username.
My interests tend to be eclectic (or should that be obscure?), so I'm likely to work on a variety of articles – anything that interests me really – including (but not limited to): classical music; UK politics; architecture; and anything related to life in the United Kingdom.
Please feel free to leave me a message: if it's about Wikipedia and isn't confidential, it's best to do this on my talk page rather than sending an e-mail.
I have created a page I have called a "notebook" where I can put reminders of how to do useful things and links to Wikipedia help pages I consult regularly. I guess this is usually called a sandbox on Wikipedia; but that sounds like an Americanised term, and sandpit just sounds silly!
Milestones
[edit]- I made the first edit under my username on 12 August 2005, although I first edited Wikipedia anonymously on 8 February 2005.
- I made my 500th edit on 23 March 2006, warning a user who had added some nonsense to Wikipedia.
- I made my 1000th edit on 7 April 2006, making a minor edit to the name at the start of an article. Perhaps I should slow down a bit now!
- I made my 1500th edit on 27 June 2006, leaving a message for a user about a copyright violating article we'd both helped to fix.
- My 1000th edit in article namespace was on 29 June 2006, so around a third of my edits are contributions to discussions and Wikipedia housekeeping.
- I edited my 1000th distinct page on 10 July 2006.
- I made my 2000th edit on 3 August 2006, adding the missing leading paragraph to an article.
- On 11 September 2006 I had 500 pages on my watchlist, although this is likely to decrease when I next prune the list.
- I finally made my 2500th edit on 23 August 2007, warning a user for vandalism
- My 3000th edit on 23 August 2008 was adding a "blocked" template to a vandal's talk page after I was confused by the fact there was no indication the user had been blocked. By pure chance, it's taken exactly a year to make 500 edits!
