He was later seconded to [[NME]].com during its major redevelopment, and became heavily involved in the move towards an [[open source]] platform, of which he is a major advocate.


Before IPC, he was founder and managing director of Max Internet, a web design, build and hosting company based in his birth town of [[Stockport]]. Paul studied Computing and Information Systems with Management Accounting at the [[University of Manchester]].
Paul was promoted to Internet Technology Manager in 2002, with responsibility for the technical aspects of IPC's Country and Leisure Media internet portfolio. He brought a number of key web properties in-house during 2003 and established a core web technical team for the division at the beginning of 2004. Since then many of the CALM web properties have experienced strong visitor and revenue growth through development of new features, search engine and code optimisation and attention to accessibility and usability issues. In 2005 Paul regained the use of his bottom lip recently.
