=== Remade songs ===
The majority of Hybrid Theory's tracks are represented by remakes of older songs and demos, which the band recorded between 1997 and 1999 before they were known as Linkin Park. In some cases, the songs were almost completely rewritten, keeping few of their original elements.

"Runaway" and "Forgotten" are both remakes of songs that were on Xero's demo tape. They were originally entitled "Stick N' Move" and "Rhinestone" respectively. <ref name="band discog"> The verse lyrics for "Rhinestone" would later be used on the ''[[Reanimation]]'' reinterpretation of Forgotten.

The Hybrid Theory demo CD that was sent to record companies also included several early versions of ''Hybrid Theory'' songs. "By Myself" had originally been entitled "SuperXero" after the band's first name; "One Step Closer" had originally been entitled "Plaster"; "A Place For My Head" had been called "Esaul"; and "In the End" was called as "The Untitled". Early versions of "Points of Authority" and "Crawling" were also present on the CD. <ref name="band discog">
