-The '''Symphony''' [[grape]] is one of dozens of new grapes bred by Dr. Harold Paul Olmo, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Viticulture and Enology at the University of California (Davis).  Its development began in 1948 and was completed and introduced commercially in 1981.  It was patented in 1983.  It is a cross between [[Muscat (grape and wine)|Muscat of Alexandria]] and [[Grenache Gris]].
