The 2006 USPRO Road Race Championships was held September 2 and consisted solely of riders from the United States with valid [[Union Cycliste Internationale|UCI]] racing licenses. The winner becomes the "United States National Road Race Champion" and have the right to wear the national champion's jersey.

Prior to the 2006 race, the first rider from the United States that crosses the finish line was considered the "United States National Road Race Champion" and had the right to wear the national champion's jersey.

Held in [[Philadelphia, Pennsylvania]] since its inaugural year, USA Cycling announced in November 2005 that the event will move to [[Greenville, South Carolina]] and serve for the next three years as host to the USPRO National Road Championships and the inaugural USPRO National Time Trial Championships. Held each year in [[Downers Grove, Illinois]], the first rider from the United States that crosses the finish line will be considered the "United States National Criterium Champion" and have the right to wear the national champion's jersey.

The 2006 USPRO Criterium Championships were held August 19-20.

== USPRO National Time Trial Championships ==
The first USPRO Time Trial Championship was held on August 31, 2006 in Greensville, South Carolina.

This event is exclusively reserved for riders from the United States with a valid UCI racing license and is won by the rider with the fastest time over the 32.3 km course (20.1 miles). The winner will be considered the "United States National Time Trial Champion" and have the right to wear the national champion's jersey.

USPRO National Championships is the name given by USA Cycling, the United States national governing body of cycling, for a series of national championships.
