'''History:'''
In 1995 schools started to see a drastic change in teaching materials with the introduction of the white board. This board was a lot safer for the children because it was discovered that chalk dust was not good to breathe in{{fact|date=February 2013}}. This board replaced the black and green boards that students had grown accustomed to seeing on a daily basis. From this point forward more and more students would grow used to seeing the white board and colorful markers that have become a common classroom tool. In more recent years the introduction of the smart board has also changed the learning surface that students see in the classroom. This, like the dry erase board, is usually a smooth white surface but instead of just a surface to write on, this is more of a PC screen and overhead projector screen in one.
