Route
It is an off-grid plan main north-south thoroughfare that intersects both streets and avenues. Biscayne Boulevard begins at SE 4th Street, going north through the central business district of Downtown.

It continues north, taking the place of NE 3rd Avenue until crossing NE 36th Street, where it curves northeast, paralleling N Federal Highway until NE 61st Street, where it continues north. Biscayne Boulevard passes by the so called "Biscayne Wall" up to NE 12th Street, the Miami Design District at NE 38th/NE 39th Street and the MiMo District on the Upper Eastside between NE 55th St and NE 78th St.

After NE 61st Street it takes the place of NE 6th Avenue. It exits the city of Miami at NE 87th Street and enters the village of Miami Shores. At NE 88th Street, it curves northeast and continues through Miami Shores, crossing the Biscayne Canal into the city of North Miami.

It fully enters the city of North Miami Beach just south of NE 163rd Street, continuing north-northeast until it enters the city of Aventura at Greynold's Park (NE 174th Terrace). It continues north-northeast through the city of Aventura, curving due north at NE 187th Street. It continues north through Aventura, curving northeast at NE 203rd Street. It continues northeast a short distance until it crosses the Broward County line into the city of Hallandale Beach. After entering Broward County, it is no longer called Biscayne Boulevard, but South Federal Highway.

The Boulevard is home to the majority of consulates- general based in Miami, including that of France
