I'm a student of pure mathematics with interests in the sciences and history, who came to wikipedia within its first year. Most of my work has been with the [[protist]] pages, which they attracted relatively little attention from other editors. Some of the first pictures here were microscopic photographs I'd taken (others can be found [http://microlife.parvarium.com here]), and I helped develop the [[:Template:Taxobox|Taxobox template]] that appears on many biology pages. By now I have left these things to other editors and am no longer active here, but I can be reached via the aforementioned link. |

Classifiation is tricky. Im no real expert - unfortunately - and here are litterally millions of species that have yet to be classified. Things that really help here are simple things such as freshwater/saltwater and temperature as most of the species have relatively limited ranges. In addition stained preps are invaluable - Leishman or Geimsa are the usual ones. This brings out details of the nuclear structure which along with the habitat details are almost all we have to go on with organsisms like amoebae. |

Hope that helps. |
