==General==
[[Buxton]] Festival Fringe is in its 27th year and in 2006 hosted 117 events over 17 days. This makes it one of the largest fully indedpendant Fringe's in the UK - along with Brighton and [[Edinburgh Fringe]].

The Fringe runs every year for just over two weeks in July.

The Fringe hosts comedy, theatre, dance, music, street performances, puppetry, film, performance art, talks and shows for children as well as other improntu events.

Buxton Fringe is an open arts festival and all are welcome to perform. The current cost of entry is £70.

As well as around twenty commonly used venues around the town, the Fringe includes two professionally managed venue groups: ''Underground Venues''[http://www.undergroundvenues.co.uk] and ''Nice Venues''[http://www.nicevenues.co.uk].
