Welcome to the first issue of The Center Line since winter of 2015, which was over a year ago. Firstly, because 2016, the year we were so excited about in the last issue, has come and gone without a new issue, we hope 2016 was a good year for you. Secondly, since it is now 2017, happy belated New Year! We hope that this year will bring new improvement for USRD. We will focus on the completion of two initatives on Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata, *Topic of Feature 2*, and *Topic of Feature 3* in this issue. We hope to publish another issue this spring, so please be patient. ❖Philroc |

2012 and 2013 were momentous years in the history of USRD: the consolidation of the state highway WikiProjects, the deployment of KML files, and a record-breaking number of featured articles and good articles. But behind the scenes, two initiatives on Wikimedia sister projects were started, and were only completed last year. |

* There is an ongoing discussion here about whether sets of articles about highways that travel through multiple states, have the same number, and are connected to each other should each be combined into one article, and how the articles that are made from this process should be named. Your input is needed, so, please voice your opinion at the above link. *California: Since the last issue, California State Route 11 became a Good Article, and California State Route 94 and California State Route 76 became Featured Articles. :File:McClure Tunnel west.jpg also became a Featured Picture. A source for replacing the California postmile with actual mileages was found at . --Rschen7754 17:20, 18 March 2017 (UTC) |
*Georgia: The List of state routes in Georgia (U.S. state) page was made standards compliant and still is in the midst of a major revamp to include all previous and current state highways. Also, the List of former state routes in Georgia (U.S. state) page has had a major revamp started to include all previous state highways and make each section cited and include complete histories. The process on both pages is still ongoing, with various current state highway articles having properly-cited "History" sections added or revamped to be proper. Charlotte Allison (Morriswa) (talk) 11:13, 18 March 2017 (UTC) |
*Idaho: All current state highways now have articles, with the final redlink of Idaho State Highway 81 being created on February 21. The main list of state highways was made standards compliant and split thrice. <span style="background:#5d9731; color:white; padding:2px;">Sounder</span><span style="background:#1047AB; color:white; padding:2px;">Bruce</span> 06:44, 18 March 2017 (UTC) |
*Michigan: With the promotion of Interstate 675 (Michigan) (and the previous promotion of Interstate 94 in Michigan) to Featured Article status, the Interstate Highways in Michigan topic automatically promoted to Featured Topic status on March 4, 2017. <span style="background:#006B54; padding:2px;"><font color="white">Imzadi 1979</font> <font color="white"><big>→</big></font></span> 00:59, 20 March 2017 (UTC) |

Since 2015, Maryland has had its WikiWork increase by three thounsandths of a point, causing it to beat Washington State in the leaderboard and moving it from 5th place to 4th place. Arizona is interesting in that its relative WikiWork is its WikiWork divided by 100. All of the article numbers for that state added up to exactly 100, and 372 WikiWork points became 3.72 relative WikiWork points. |
Now let's look at how the four main task forces are doing: |

While we were making this issue of The Center Line, there was a bit of a slowdown at one point. This was because not enough stories were suggested during that time period. If you would like to see more issues of The Center Line more often, please suggest some stories here. The next issue should be out this spring, and if more stories get suggested, it will look as normal as this issue. |
