-Yusei is very different from the [[Jaden_Yuki|protagonist of the previous ''Yu-Gi-Oh!'' series]]. He is calm and cool much of the time, but when his friends are threatened he will fight till the end to protect them. His friends all respect and admire him for his honor and great dueling skills.

Two years prior to the start of the series, Jack betrayed Yusei and stole his best monster card along with his D-Wheel which he had spent so much time building and perfecting. -Yusei plays a Synchro/Tuner deck, focusing on summoning Tuner monsters and tributing them to summon more powerful Synchro monsters with stronger abilities. His best card is the Synchro monster "Stardust Dragon", which was stolen by his rival Jack. Jusei's main goal in the series so far has been to win this card back.
