Yusei is one of the five "Signers", and thus bears a "Dragon Mark", representing part of the Crimson Dragon. His mark is located on his right arm, and is in the shape of the Dragon's tail. It first appears during his duel with Jack, when Stardust and Red Daemon's Dragon attack one another, though it disappeared again afterwards.<ref>Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episode 5</ref> It now only appears when Yusei is around other dueling Signers, or when he summons Stardust Dragon. After Rex Godwin discovers Yusei's mark, he is invited to enter the Fortune Cup, a tournament organized in order for Godwin to discover the identities of the five Signers. |

Yusei strongly believes that all Duel Monsters cards have a purpose, that they were each created for a reason. His deck reflects this, containing monsters which many people would consider weak and worthless.<ref>Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episode 1</ref> Several of his cards are also "speed" themed, to correspond with the introduction of the new Riding Duel system. This "'''Speed/Junk'''" deck focuses on summoning Tuner monsters and releasing (tributing) them to summon more powerful Synchro monsters with stronger abilities - most notably the Junk, Nitro and Turbo Warriors. Yusei's best card is the Synchro monster "Stardust Dragon", which was stolen by his rival Jack. Yusei intended to fight Jack to reclaim his card, however Jack willingly returned Stardust Dragon to him before the start of the Fortune Cup. |
